Leftist-utopians: ingrates & cowards

On this Veterans Day 2006, can anyone wade into the huffpo cess pool and find one tiny-little-eensies-weensies-just-one-word acknowledging the heroic contributions of fighting men or women in uniform either past or present?

I thought not.

State your reasons as to why that may be right here.

We salute you.

Veterans Day is the American name for the international day called Armistice Day. It falls on November 11, the anniversary of the signing of the armistice that ended World War One. It is both a federal holiday and a state holiday in all states. The same day is observed elsewhere as Remembrance Day or Armistice Day.

Thank you, one & all.

World financial markets rattled by US elections

Global finance markets have wobbled on fears that a Democrat victory in the US Congressional elections could prompt less market-friendly policies in the world's biggest economy.
Gee. ya think?

Powerline puts a fine point on the congressional sweep with good news and bad news.
The good news is that Connecticut has re-elected Joe Lieberman. The bad news is that (the) sweetest Senate result to date involves a Democrat winning.

Michael Medved is more circumspect with some uncomfortable lessons from a disastrous night.
The numbers from every corner of the country make it clear that the American people meant to send a message to their leaders, and the future of the conservative movement depends on an accurate reading of the substance they meant to communicate, and a realistic reassessment of the current state of our politics. Herewith, some lessons from the debacle—some of them obvious, but others counterintuitive and unexpected.

Just you wait....

....some moron will nominate him for a Nobel peace prize.

Hey. Did ya hear the one about the scorpion & the frog?

I'm Spartacus!

Ok.

This is not an epic struggle and doesn't require DeMille.

It does prove, however, that success has many children, but failure is an orphan.

Turkish Man Says He's the Real Borat

ANKARA, Turkey -- A Turkish Internet celebrity is so convinced he was the inspiration for Sacha Baron Cohen's "Borat" character, he's traveling to London seeking an apology and a way to get paid from the film's surprise success.

Would you believe I'm Ali G?

UPDATE
Humiliated Frat Boys Sue 'Borat'
SANTA MONICA, Calif. -- Two fraternity boys want to make lawsuit against "Borat" over their drunken appearance in the hit movie.

The legal action filed Thursday on their behalf claims they were duped into appearing in the spoof documentary "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan," in which they made racist and sexist comments on camera.
Gee, ya think alcohol might be a bad idea when the cameras are rolling, boys? Morons.

Cue Bill Shakespear pt 4

Democrats & republicans send out thousands of attorneys to watch the polls.

Nov. 6, 2006 — Both sides have lawyered up for Election Day. More than 10,000 lawyers representing the Republican and Democratic parties and assorted interest groups will fan out across the country attempting to protect the rights of voters.

To err is human, .... but to really foul things up reqires a lawyer. God save the republic - not democracy - republic.

PS: To the nitwits who don't get the joke; I know I am mis-spelling Bill's name. Krykee. Get a life.

The religion of 'peace'

Just remember, folks, this is but a small sample of islamo-fascists that the leftist-utopians want to appease in their misguided efforts to 'not create more terrorists.'

British Muslim 'wanted to blow up Tube train under Thames'

A terrorist plotted to explode a series of bombs in Britain, causing "the loss of innocent human life on a massive scale", including blowing up a train while it travelled underneath the Thames and using a dirty bomb.

Dhiren Barot, 35, wanted to fill three limousines packed with gas cylinders, explosives and shrapnel and then blow them up in car parks under key buildings. Barot, who grew up in north-west London, wanted to create "another black day for the enemies of Islam" Woolwich Crown Court heard today.

Hamas 'human shield' women shot.
HAMAS unveiled a new battle tactic yesterday, summoning dozens of women into the front line as human shields to enable the escape of militiamen surrounded by the Israeli army in a Gaza mosque.

Two of the women were shot dead by Israeli troops and at least ten were reported to have been injured during a march Hamas said was organised to free the fighters on the third day of an Israeli incursion into the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Hanoun.
I guess sacrificing real women is easier than dying for those heavenly fantasy virgins.

Hot for martyrdom
Dr. Tawfik Hamid doesn't tell people where he lives. Not the street, not the city, not even the country. It's safer that way. It's only the letters of testimony from some of the highest intelligence officers in the Western world that enable him to move freely. He's a disarmingly gentle and courteous man. But he's determined to tell a complacent North America what he knows about fundamentalist Muslim imperialism.

"Yes, 'imperialism,' " he tells me. "The deliberate and determined expansion of militant Islam and its attempt to triumph not only in the Islamic world but in Europe and North America. Pure ideology. Muslim terrorists kill and slaughter not because of what they experience but because of what they believe."

"I've heard this poverty nonsense time and time again from Western apologists for Islam, most of them not Muslim by the way. There are millions of passive supporters of terror who may be poor and needy but most of those who do the killing are wealthy, privileged, educated and free. If it were about poverty, ask yourself why it is middle-class Muslims -- and never poor Christians -- who become suicide bombers in Palestine.

"We're not talking about a fringe cult here," he tells me. "Salafist [fundamentalist] Islam is the dominant version of the religion and is taught in almost every Islamic university in the world. It is puritanical, extreme and does, yes, mean that women can be beaten, apostates killed and Jews called pigs and monkeys."

He's exasperated now, visibly angry at what he sees as a willful Western foolishness. "Stop asking what you have done wrong. Stop it! They're slaughtering you like sheep and you still look within. You criticize your history, your institutions, your churches. Why can't you realize that it has nothing to do with what you have done but with what they want."

Waiting for the fat lady...

...or someone like her.

The Discerning Texan has proposed that absentee ballots will win the day for the republican party.

Simply Google 'absentee' and you will (read) stories from every state where absentee voting is way, way up and reaching levels comparable to the 2004 elections (they seem to have already passed the 2002 midterm marks). What this does mean is all those polls we have been seeing, where Dems have been weighted because of the drop of in Rep responses are bogus. And I do mean bogus. Rassmussen and others have said they have seen a big 'increase' in Dem party responses. And with these massive absentee and early voting levels it is clear these were not changes in the electorate, but changes in the electorate’s participation in polls. That is why pollsters would have done better to show the two results based on heavy turn out for both sides of the partisan aisle, and one result for equal turnout.

And is Maryland a bellweather state for an open revolt by black voters against the democratic party?

Can I get an amen?

Irony

Iraqi Tribunal Sentences Saddam to Hang

Former U.S. Attorney General Ramsey Clark ejected from the courtroom.

BAGHDAD, Iraq -- Saddam Hussein was convicted and sentenced Sunday to hang for crimes against humanity in the 1982 killings of 148 people in a single Shiite town, as the ousted leader, trembling and defiant, shouted "God is great!"

Powerline reminds us that saddam's execution could take awhile to accomplished based upon a lengthy appeal that is sure to follow.

Saddam didn't like the decision none too much and harangued the tribunal's chief judge as the judgment was read. "You can't decide. You are slaves. God is great. Life is for us and death for our enemies. Life for the nation, death for the enemies of our nation," Saddam said, visibly shaking, his face wrapped tightly in a scowl.

And don't forget the tin foil hat brigade rumminating about 'this convenient kangaroo verdict' just in time for the mid term elections.

Oh! Did I metion former U.S. Attorney General Ramsey Clark was ejected from the courtroom? Buy him a beer, Jimmy.

You're probably wondering why I have asked all of you here today.

Endorsements and decisions for various Missouri elections:

Constitutional Amendment 2 - Stem Cell Research
Not just no, but HELL NO!
In the summary, this reads like a 'do nothing' amendment - neither allowing nor prohibiting anything not already in federal law. But, read the fine print and it is frightening what is being redefined and allowed to be placed into law.

Constitutional Amendment 3 - Healthy Future Trust Fund
Healthy trust fund, my furry behind. More like a healthy slush fund.
NO.
Period.
This is a tax on cigarette consumption for all the nicotine slaves out there. What's burns my citizenship is this notion of selectively piling on exhorbitant taxes to certain members of this nation for behavior control. Either outlaw the noxious weed or leave people alone. 'Sin taxes' do not work. Besides, politicians have never found a tax that they did not like and there are no 'locked boxes' that the money grubbers can't break into for 'general funds'.

(Nov 7) Constitutional Amendment 6 - Property Tax Ememption
Yes. Any tax reduction is almost always a yes; especially for legitimate tax exempt organizations.
Yes, even the Stowers Institute.

(Nov 7) Constitutional Amendment 7 - Elected Officials' Pension
You mean this isn't required already??
Politicians will forfeit state pensions upon felony conviction, removal from office following impeachment or for misconduct. DOH!
A big YES on this one.

Proposition B - Minimum Wage
Citizens voting to raise the minimum wage in Missouri.
Not just no, but HELL NO!
Tell me again why it is the business of strangers as to what I pay my employees??
The fact that this is on the ballot of a general election is further proof that the republic is going to hell in a basket. The loss of the concept and respect for private property is appalling.
Cut to the chase - Let's just exhume karl marx now and erect a shrine to him. Krykee!

Candidates:

Matt Bartle for state senate.

Jeff Grisamore for state house.

Charles Baum for Missouri state auditor.

Unused gift cards are the new billion-dollar business.

Believe it or not, there's a worse gift than a mashed-potato-scented candle. One unfortunate Consumer Reports survey respondent received such a present last holiday season. But consider this: Giving a gift card can be a bigger waste of money. That's one of the findings in our recent Holiday Shopping poll. The Consumer Reports National Research Center surveyed 1,000 adults about holiday shopping habits. Here are our major findings:

More campaign strategy

(Alledged) Voter registration fraud in Missouri via the leftist community action group ACORN during its efforts to register voters. The Kansas City Board of Election Commissioners state that "40% of the nearly 35,000 registrations submitted by ACORN are fraudulent."

Well, of course they are fraudulent. Its the only way democrats can win elections.

ACORN has been investigated in six states for voter registration fraud during two previous elections.

Thanks to USS Neverdock.

Move along. Nothing to see here.

Go back to your lives, citizens.
