It's Not One World...

Update below: The United Nations Human Rights Council passed the 'Orwellian' Defamation of Religion resolution last week. Only Islam is mentioned by name.

Women Raped and Babies Sold from Yemeni Jails.

"Many others abuse issues of female prisoners in the country go unreported, lawyer Abdul Rahman Berman said. Female prisoners face difficult moments during investigations as they are prevented from hiring lawyers."
Yemen's Ministry of the Interior reported a total of 644 imprisoned women in 2008 with 389 being set free. Yemen claims to have a working relationship with the Int'l Committee of the Red Cross.

Palestinian Authority threatens death penalty for those who sell land to Jews.

"Sheikh Tamimi's warning came in response to reports that Jewish businessmen from the US had purchased 20 dunams of land from Palestinians on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem.

Warning the Palestinians against engaging in "suspicious real estate deeds," the religious leader said that according to Islamic teachings it was a "grave sin" to sell houses and lands to Jews.

He said that the ban also applies to real estate agents or middlemen who are involved in such transactions.

He warned that anyone who ignores the warning would be punished in accordance with Islamic teachings and would also be ostracized by his community and family."
Islam is the religion of peace, after all. But not, apparently, of basic individual liberties.

Israeli Youth Killed in West Bank Ax Attack.
"A Palestinian killed an Israeli teenager with a pickax and seriously injured a 7-year-old boy in a rampage through this West Bank Jewish settlement Thursday, posing an early test for the country's new hard-line government.

A murky Palestinian militant group calling itself the Martyrs of Imad Mughniyeh claimed responsibility for the attack in an e-mail sent to the AP.

The group is named for a Hezbollah mastermind killed in Syria last year in what is believed to have been an assassination by Israeli intelligence. It has claimed a number of past attacks, but Israeli defense officials believe it is likely a name used by other groups to avoid Israeli reprisals."
The suspect is still at large. Our prayers and well wishes go out to the victims and their families.

"This war will never be over. It will continue until the day comes when the stones and the trees say: "Oh Muslims, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him."

I wish I could say this type of Islamic child abuse indoctrination is isolated, but unfortunately, it is quite common.

How about some relatively good news for a change? Moderate Muslims Slam CAIR, Congratulate the FBI.
"The Center for Islamic Pluralism has placed a potentially breakthrough political advertisement in the Weekly Standard dated April 6. Titled "American Muslims Commend FBI for Rejection of CAIR" and signed by many of the country's moderate Muslim luminaries, it contains a meaty dual message: CAIR et al. are bad news, so – please – U.S. government stay away from them."
Ok. Not so much slam as frown really, really hard in their direction.

But, considering that you can't spell 'unethical' without U.N., and the U.N. is trying mightily to make it a criminal offense to criticize Islam (no joke), my hat is off to those 'Center for Islamic Pluralism' moderate Muslims.
"The resolution deems offending Islamic sensitivities a "serious affront to human dignity" which could lead to "social disharmony", "violations of human rights" and "incitement to religious hatred in general and against Islam in particular". If passed, the resulting binding resolution would find its way into various UN documents all of which would require that UN member states at "local, national and international levels" start restricting the free speech of citizens to prevent public criticism of religious beliefs, particularly Islamic belief."
Some claim this ill advised U.N. resolution could actually lead to the criminalization of the Gospel in many parts of the world.

But, hey. What's the further erosion of personal liberties among friends infidels dhimmis?

Update: Oops. Too late. The United Nations Human Rights Council passed this 'Orwellian' resolution last week.
"Not surprisingly, Canada, Chile and the European Union nations that sit on the Human Rights Council opposed this resolution, which they recognized as a thinly veiled attempt to legitimize the anti-blasphemy laws that theocratic Muslim regimes use to squelch dissent and persecute religious minorities. Indeed, it was hard for the measure's supporters to argue otherwise, given that Islam was the only religion specifically mentioned in the resolution and the list of nations backing the measure could, with a few exceptions, double as a who's who of human-rights violators."
