NY Mayor Bloomberg: Soda Jerk

Our resident hyper liberal, Barb Shelly at the KC Star, is Sorry to see New York soda restrictions slapped down (a  NY state supreme court judge yesterday blocked NY Board of Health's authority to ban 'big gulp' sodas - servings larger than 16 ounces - at certain venues).
"The ruling really isn’t a surprise, and it probably isn’t the end of this issue. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has the will and resources to continue the fight.

Personally, I’d like to see limits. Obesity is an expensive problem, and sugary drinks are a prime culprit. Sorry, nobody needs a 24-ounce Coke in one sitting."
Got that, you rubes?  'Nobody needs'... (fill in the nanny state micromanagement du jour).

In short , liberalism only advances through the police power of the state.

A USA Today report on the judge's ruling is here.
