London's Labour Party mayor, 'Red Ken' Livingstone, lost his bid for re-election to the Tory candidate, Boris Johnson.
Looks like Londonistan's imams will have to find another sucker, and 'red ken' will have to return his knee pads.
For the record, Tory = Conservative for us myopic, USA provincialists. But 'Conservative' in Britain simply means 'not far left', and has more in common with the U.S. of A's 'blue dog' dems than with America's conservative Republicans. (if I'm wrong, let me know)
Moving on:
According to BBC predictions the Conservatives won 44 per cent of the national vote in the local elections versus 25 per cent for the Liberal Democrats and just 24 per cent for Labour - its worst share since comparable records began in 1973.
"It's clear to me that this has been a disappointing night, indeed a bad night for Labour," (Britain's PM Gordon) Brown told reporters. "My job is to listen and to lead and that is what I will do."
Translation: The Brits want Conservatives in power. But MM claims this Boris Johnson guy is a wackjob in his own right, so caveat emptor.
