That Was Then, This is Worse

In 2009, Newsweek published the cover on the left with an accompanying featured article, trumpeting "In many ways our economy already resembles a European one. As boomers age and spending grows, we will become even more French."

Much of that argument was a fair analysis of how we got where we were, and how under the (then) new Obama administration, we would continue to accelerate in a massively indebted, euro-socialist direction.

But for some reason, Neo-Cons are eebil & veddy bad for daring to suggest Obama is a socialist.

Ok, fine. That was then, this is worse.

How about he's a once eloquent visionary who claimed to slow the ocean’s rise and heal the planet, but now is a feckless, tone deaf functionary addicted to other people's money, surrounded by incompetent sycophants enamored of failed policies, who cannot tame 500+ congress critters, all the while whistling Cloward–Piven's greatest hits on the golf course.

But that copy doesn't lend itself well to a magazine cover.

Is it 2012, yet?
