Warrantless Wire Taps & Foreign Combatants: Obama Sides with Bush & it's OK 'Cause, You Know, It's Obama, Man

Obama Administration Supports U.S. Telecommunication Companies' Spy Immunity.

"The Obama administration late Wednesday vigorously defended congressional legislation immunizing U.S. telecommunication companies from lawsuits about their participation in the Bush administration's domestic spy program.

The administration's legal move should come as no surprise. During his January confirmation hearings, Attorney General Eric Holder told senators that the Obama administration would defend telco immunity. "Unless there are compelling reasons, I don't think we would reverse course," Holder said."

Uh, if Obama supports it, and he is now the President, that would make the program Obama's.

Obama gots Gw's back on the State's Secret thing, too:
"Two weeks ago, Holder announced a review of litigation inherited from the Bush administration in which the so-called state-secrets privilege was invoked. Despite the review, the Obama administration is not parting course from its predecessor."

In other words, the Feds can keep classified info classified in the name of Nat'l secuirty. So, apparently, what got the loon toon screaming meanie moonbats' panties in a twist with GW Bush, is not so bad under Obama.

But, wait. There's more Hope n Change!

Obama backs Bush: No rights for Bagram prisoners.
"After Barack Obama took office, a federal judge in Washington gave the new administration a month to decide whether it wanted to stand by Bush's legal argument. Justice Department spokesman Dean Boyd says the filing speaks for itself.

"They've now embraced the Bush policy that you can create prisons outside the law," said Jonathan Hafetz, an attorney with the American Civil Liberties Union who has represented several detainees."
