Obama: No Merci Beaucoup

"You know, it’s embarrassing when Europeans come over here, they all speak English, they speak French, they speak German. And then we go over to Europe and all we can say is merci beaucoup. Right?" - Mr. Obama, July 9, 2008
"I know because I don’t speak a foreign language. It’s embarrassing!" - Mr. Obama, July 11, 2008

State Dept: No Special Relationship Between U.S. & U.K.
"The real views of many in Obama administration were laid bare by a State Department official involved in planning the Brown visit, who reacted with fury when questioned by The Sunday Telegraph about why the event was so low-key.

The official dismissed any notion of the special relationship, saying: "There's nothing special about Britain. You're just the same as the other 190 countries in the world. You shouldn't expect special treatment." The apparent lack of attention to detail by the Obama administration is indicative of what many believe to be Mr Obama's determination to do too much too quickly."

No, what's apparent are piles n piles of unicorn... excuses.

One would think that several hundred years of history, common values, economic partnerships, two world wars, a cold war, dismantling the Soviet Union, and fighting violent islamists across the globe might just sorta maybe kinda give the U.K. a little higher place on our dance card than say, oh, Eritrea or Bolivia or Sri Lanka.

The U.S. & the U.K. are separated by a common language, but it's obvious that the Obama administration's language embarrassment is compounded by not speaking diplomacy, either.

Maybe these boys can help.
