A Few Headlines

The Macintosh on its 35th Anniversary: ‘Think Same’
"Big tech’s moral responsibilities are complicated at best. There’s certainly a case to be made for banning apps and sites that advocate terror and violence. By banning these apps, though, Apple is taking a stand at morality that’s rightly called “traditional.” An even better word would be “mainstream.” Billions of people have thought it the right morality; billions undoubtedly still do.
Apple thinks different from most of America; we can grant them that. What they don’t want is for Americans to think different from them."
Zuckerberg to Merge WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook Messenger
"One reason for combining the platforms is that Facebook might face anti-trust problems moving forward for its monopoly on messaging services. In this scenario, Facebook could then say they are actually one service."

Social media is a very unsociable data mining scam.

Boeing’s Flying Car Lift Off in a Race to the Skies
"It’s a technological field that could revolutionize urban transport and parcel delivery services. It said that on Tuesday it achieved a small but significant step when its 30-foot (9-meter) vehicle briefly hovered a few feet off the ground before making a soft landing. Boeing is also planning tests later this year for a package hauling version that can lift 500 pounds."

It's a glorified drone.

A Runner Strangled a Mountain Lion After It Attacked Him
"He suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries."

Respect the cross-fit!

Antarctic Expedition Hopeful of Finding Ernest Shackleton's Long-Lost Research Vessel
"The demise of the Endurance aided greatly in cementing Shackleton's legend: When it was initially crushed by sea ice in February 1915, Shackleton and his crew stayed with the ship until November. They braved the dogged conditions and sought refuge by sailing in life boats to the unpopulated Elephant Island. Shackleton and five other men eventually sought help by making an 800-mile open-boat journey to South Georgia. Shackleton later returned for his men in a tugboat and brought them all to safety, ensuring everyone's survival."

Obvious 'toxic masculinity.'

Achievement gap continues for many Missouri minority students
"Overall, about 49% of Missouri K-12 public school students are proficient in English Language Arts. They are most skilled in Social Studies with roughly 66% scoring a passing grade. Students struggle most in math. Last year, about 42% of students met the test’s proficiency level in math."

Forty-nine and 42 percent are failing grades. Sixty-six is a 'D'. The 'achievement gap' is the failing government school monopoly. Give parents the tool of tax credits for a better educational choice for their students. Or are you opposed to choice?

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg skips State of the Union
"Ginsburg, who turns 86 next month, has been working from home in recent weeks as she recovers from treatment for cancer."

I wish her well, but 86 and treatment for cancer is no way to adjudicate law. It's time to retire - despite her her spite for Trump.
