Brutal Global Warming Alert

SoCal Edition.

To borrow from Insty, they told me if Trump was elected president his policies would drastically impact the climate - and they were right! For the first time in 132 years, it never made it past 69 degrees in Los Angeles during February.

From the L.A. Times with three (count 'em - 3) bylines for this story: "The average high for the month was 61 degrees, significantly lower than the historical average of 68 for February. That makes it the eighth-coldest February on record, said Ryan Kittell, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Oxnard.

“Most of the time we’ll get one or two Santa Ana wind events in between the rain that would give us temperatures above 70 degrees,” he added. “But it’s just been back-to-back storms and no offshore flows.”"

The record cold brought a rare snowstorm to L.A., with powder in Malibu, Pasadena, West Hollywood
"An unusually chilly storm system that originated in Alberta, Canada, was lingering over Nevada and had already blanketed Las Vegas with snow early Thursday. Before daybreak, snow was falling in parts of the Southland, dusting Palmdale and the Lucerne Valley. By the early afternoon, it was snowing across Southern California and winter weather had forced the closure of the 5 Freeway through the Grapevine.

“This is probably the coldest storm system I’ve seen in my time in California,” said David Sweet, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Oxnard. “We’ve had cold mornings and freeze conditions, but I don’t remember seeing anything quite this cold.”"
