Irving police have released part of a disturbing 911call from one of two sisters who were shot and left for dead in a taxicab two weeks ago. Police are seeking their father, Yaser Abdul Said, 50, in connection with the slayings.
Gail Gartrell, the sisters' great-aunt, said Yaser Said had physically abused the two girls for years. The girls' mother had recently fled because Yaser Said had threatened to kill the teens when he learned they had boyfriends, Gartrell told a local newspaper.
"She ran with them because she knew he would carry out the threat," Gartrell said of her niece, Patricia Said. "This was an honor killing."
