A History of Disfunction (cont.)

Reason number 464 to vote SCHOOL VOUCHERS.

KC district releases details of ex-superintendent’s ‘transition agreement’.
Former Kansas City Missouri School District superintendent Anthony Amato will work for this disfunctional district as a paid consultant to the tune of $18,333 a month through the end of 2008, the same monthly salary he received as superintendent. Plus perks. But no health insurance 'cause he's not 'full time'. Huh? Apparently, he wasn't good enough to run the district, but he's ok enough to give over-priced advice.

And don't forget John Martin, interim superintendent, the district’s 24th superintendent in 39 years. His salary is $240,00 / year. Grand fleece of the tax payers: A half a million dollars! Think there are any kickbacks in there for the obtuse & petulant school board? Way to look out for the school children and serve your constituents!!

But not to worry. If the bent over and abused tax payers don't like it, they can simply go to the other government school district down the street. Oh, wait. There is no other government school district because government schools are a monopoly!

The only way to kill this beast is to starve it! Cut off the money! Funnel it back to the people with the highest interest in the outcome of successful schools - parents and their children! Vote school vouchers / vote school choice! - Public funding of private education because, as we've seen, government schools are a monopoly money pit that can destroy communities and children's futures, and offer little or no recourse when the system fails so miserably as it has in Kansas City, Misouri. Put the power (read: money) directly into the hands of the consumer (read: parents) and let the consumer select the best educational choices for their children. After all, who could be opposed to choice?
