$4 / gal. gasoline is the mother of invention

Here in the heartland, the ZENN (Zero Emission, No Noise) electric automobile is for sale.

OK. So it's a shoe box on wheels - with a very limited range of 45 miles per overnight charge and a less than thrilling top speed of 40 MPH (tech is working on it). But the car's manufacturer in Canada estimates it costs drivers $84 a year to operate, assuming drivers travel about 100 miles per week. That's less than nine cents a day.

Rush on out to Highway AA Auto Sales in Grain Valley, MO to purchase right now. That dealership is the only one in Kansas or Missouri to carry ZENNs. List price: 14 - 18K (!)

I wonder if the marshal will let it on the course?

But wait! There's more. For a 100 grand an all electric could propel you in style to 125 MPH - even if Telsa's CEO is unaware of his low rent competition.

Hey. Henry Ford had an inauspicious beginning too.
