Wife not virgin; French court annuls marriage.

Yup. They're muslim. And while I'm sure that fact played a part, it seems to me to be more cultural, than Islamic law.

Heck, even in France, long ago, virginity used to be prized.

Today. Not so much.

(Following the wedding night) Mr X went to court the following morning and was granted a annulment on the grounds that his bride had deceived him on “one of the essential elements” of the marriage. In disgrace with both families, she acknowledged that she had led her groom to believe that she was a virgin when she had already had sexual intercourse. She did not oppose the annulment.

The hyper-libertine French are all a twitter with outrage; especially the fembots & civil righties, but it's all misplaced, I believe. This appears to be no more than false advertising, or even fraud (depending on motive).
The annulment was defended by Xavier LabbĂ©e, the lawyer who acted for Ms Y. The decision was justified by the bride’s deception, not her sexual history, he argued. “Quite simply it is about a lie,” he said. “Religion did not motivate the decision . . . but it is true that religious convictions played a role.”

But wait. There's more! The French government (ever amoral) will now consider amending the law to prevent further annulments based on 'the missing cherry clause'.

Krykee. I'd be happy if they'd just legislate soap & razors for all French women.
