Me thinks she's fudging the numbers. But, she's a dem.
Missouri has a 2007 population estimate of 5.8 million people.
"A record 4.2 million Missourians have registered to vote, Carnahan says. More than 300,000 of those are first-time voters."
Her office lists 2004 with 4,194,146 registered voters, and 2006 with 4,007,174. So 4.2 million is a definite step up, but with those '300,000' newbies, the math doesn't add up. Maybe she's being conservative.
But 76% predicted turnout?
'96 saw 58.4%. '00 saw 59.5%. And '04 saw 63.8%. (U.S. Census Bureau)
God bless 'em and good luck. Such participation would even make the architects of this government sit up in their graves, but me thinks Carnahan's fudging the numbers.
Kinda like those wild, double digit numbers in ACORN perverted polls that the MSM loves to tout.
(not that any of 'em have an agenda...)
