"I'm mad! I'm really mad!!"

Update below.

Ah. The good ol' days.

Seems like yesterday. And you know what a lousy day yesterday was....

Apparently, not enough people were all that mad because about the same turned out to vote in 2008 as 2004.

"A downturn in the number and percentage of Republican voters going to the polls seemed to be the primary explanation for the lower than predicted turnout,” the report said. Compared to 2004, Republican turnout declined by 1.3 percentage points to 28.7 percent, while Democratic turnout increased by 2.6 points from 28.7 percent in 2004 to 31.3 percent in 2008."

In 2004, 122 million Americans voted in the general election. The 2008 turnout is estimated at 126.5 million to 128.5 million. AU is guesstimating that at a one percent increase in eligible voters.* The certified vote will be known by next month.

Did ACORN's organized criminal corruption have any influence? One would think with the rampant fraud documented and report from all across the country the answer would have to be 'yes'. Will the FBI & Justice Department follow up on this perversion of the process? That's up to lame duck GW Bush with his few short months in office to stoke that fire. You can be damn sure BH Obama won't pursue the organization he says will help shape "the agenda for the next presidency of the United States of America."

Update: The good peeps over at PowerLine (who are much smarter than moi) dissect the other part of the above report concerning partisan voting trend - despite the libs specious & hypocritical refutation of 'partisan' anything.

Says PowerLine:
"The other possibility, I think, is that cultural forces push the Democrats forward relentlessly, except for occasions when their policies have clearly and undeniably failed. By "cultural forces" I mean the Democrats' monopoly or near-monopoly over newspapers, news agencies, network television, the universities and public schools, Hollywood, women's television and magazines, late-night comedy, the music industry, and so forth."

What the chart shows is a slow, but steady upward tick since 1980 of voters who consistently vote democrat. Can they be called back to sanity like the Reagan democrats of the 1980s?
"This last task will of course be difficult, but it might not be hopeless. As Paul noted on Wednesday, many voters continue to identify themselves as conservatives. More data to the same effect here; despite everything, conservatives still outnumber liberals by around fifty percent. Of course, the goalposts are probably moving, so that what counts as "conservative" today is different from what it was thirty years ago."

Complacency is a prison of our own making.
