Don't forget the ice. I used to snark and call these 'Brutal Global Warming Alerts.' Inevitably, someone would burp up the one-dimensional retort, "Weather isn't climate!" - which almost true. A single weather event isn't climate. A sustained pattern of weather events over a long period of time does indicate an established weather climate. Missouri isn't an Arctic climate, or Arid, or Tropical. It's Temperate, as in 4 seasons with all the extremes. I see no evidence of global warming forcing Missouri into an arid climate. You know... because science. Lesson over.
On to immediate concerns. From the Examiner dot net: "The National Weather Service says a storm stretching from the nation’s capital to Colorado could bring the highest snow totals in several years to sections of Missouri and Illinois.
The Weather Service has a winter storm warning in effect through 6 p.m. today for west-central Missouri and east-central Kansas, including the Kansas City area, and snow could accumulate to 4 to 6 inches. Driving conditions are expected to be poor.
Also, the storm is expected to drop 8 to 12 inches of snow in the St. Louis area into eastern Illinois between Friday and early Sunday.
Large sections of Missouri, Illinois and Indiana are under winter weather advisories, and hazardous travel conditions are expected through most of the weekend."
