Multiple Grass Fires Along I-470 in Lee’s Summit - During a Very, Very Wet Spring

Lee’s Summit is a suburb of Kansas City, Missouri, and considered part of the sprawling Kansas City metropolitan area.

From Assistant Chief Jim Eden of Lee’s Summit Fire Department: "When the fire department arrived in the area there were multiple grass and brush fires along the west side of a 2 ½ mile stretch of southbound I-470...

The cause of the fires is undetermined."

Like most of the heartland, we've been inundated by Winter snow melt, Spring rains, swollen rivers, and breached levees; all of which combined to caused widespread flooding and damage throughout the Mid West. The watery devastation is national news; pictures abound on the internet. Heck, we were drenched with another down pour last Saturday night.

Yet there were multiple grass and brush fires along a two and one-half mile stretch of open field next to a highway in LSMO?

Let's open our dictionaries and look up 'curiouser & curiouser.'
