I know this story made its way about the interwebs several times this week, but Stacy McCain over at The Other McCain wrote a headline that caught my eye. It's a sad tale about South Carolina Democrat Congressman Joe Cunningham, and his self-confessed, mentally adrift wife.
The Other McCain quotes from a Washington Free Beacon article to set the stage:
"The South Carolina Democrat is currently serving his first term in Congress, where members are given access to Obamacare “gold” plans from Blue Cross Blue Shield and are responsible for paying about a quarter of the premiums. The plan is apparently not good enough for his wife, Amanda Cunningham, who told her Instagram followers she would be urging her husband to do something about it.'In addition to all of our marriage counseling sessions.' McCain brings it into focus:
“I’m gonna have a little bit of a rant here on social media because I think this is important,” she said on her Instagram story last week. “I’ve been going over my not-a-bill bill here from Blue Cross Blue Shield, and realizing that once again, all of my mental health therapy sessions are denied, in addition to all of our marriage counseling sessions.”
“It’s just mind-blowing to me that these basic well-known needs, that mental health is health care, are still being denied, that we’re still fighting for these absolutely basic things, it’s unbelievable to me,” she said."
"Wait a minute, she’s getting “mental health therapy sessions” and also “marriage counseling sessions”? Does the name (Thomas) Eagleton ring a bell?Lunatic maybe a bit harsh, but you get the gist. A truism of this world is your personal life directly impacts your professional performance. 'Happy wife; happy life' is the most common proof of that concept. And Mrs. Congressman Joe Cunningham(D) just confessed she ain't happy - nor, apparently, right in the head, but not for the reasons you think.
Never mind the coverage gaps in your health insurance plan, lady, you’ve just told the entire world that (a) the Congressman is married to a lunatic, and (b) your marriage is circling the toilet bowl."

I also call bullsh!t on this dizzy's claim of 'still being denied.'
Two years ago, the RINO majority congress refused to repeal obamacare outright. It instead neutered the individual mandate penalty for not having health insurance, then left it to the courts to eventually do clean-up on aisle three.
If memory serves, the one-size-fits-all medical care provision is still in effect for all insurance policies issued - that includes mental health care, reproductive care, 26 y.o. 'children' as dependents, etc.I don't think marriage counseling has ever been covered by any insurance plan.
Here's my take: Either this dizzy hasn't met the astronomical deductible under her obamacare trainwreck, or went out of network with a new age relationship shaman, or whatever, then received a legitimate 'denied' from BCBS. Naturally, a childish 'gimme free stuff' or I'll demand patriarchy fight my battles! is her only reflex.
