Union Pacific 'Big Boy' 4014 Locomotive is at Union Station in Kansas City Today

"Big Boy" is Back to Life after 60 years. Union Pacific Steam Locomotive No. 4014 was originally delivered to Union Pacific in December 1941. The locomotive's last run was 1959, having traveled 1,031,205 miles in its 20 years in service. Ed Dickens' team spent 2.5 years to revived Big Boy."
This is a great interview with Ed about the dedicated team he assembled to do a nearly frame-off restoration to safely return this legend of steam power to rail operation.

Mrs. Locomotivebreath1901, that curvaceous raven-haired beauty whom I'd marry all over again, will accompany me as we head into downtown KCMO to view this legendary machine at Union Station.

Posting will be light today, but there will be pictures! (PS: none these pics are mine)

Big Boy No. 4014 geek stuff for us RR geeks.

This video was posted 4 days ago when Big Boy rolled into Little Rock, Arkansas.

These next 2 pictures are from my daughter Holly as she waited south of Kansas City yesterday evening for Big Boy to roll into town.

Not open for public viewing, but here’s a look inside the Lounge Car and Dining Car that form part of the UP Heritage Fleet traveling with 4014:
