A Few Headlines - best of the interwebs

Impeachment or Attainder? The House Democrats undertake a lawless act.

Shmuel Klatzkin at the American Spectator writes 6 brilliant paragraphs:
"The great responsibility that is required to exercise this great power is the key. Every presidential impeachment has failed; only in the case of Nixon, which didn’t quite make it to impeachment, was there success in forcing a president out of office."

DEVIN NUNES ON THE FISA COURT: Shut It Down. Shut It All Down.
"Unfortunately, Nunes noted, the American media helped the government cover up its gross misconduct. “In order to get back to normalcy in this country, we have to have a free and fair press, but we don’t have that today,” he lamented.

When asked by MacCallum whether he believes that the FISA court really needs to be eliminated, Nunes replied, “I’m not going to speak in absolutes, but I will say that the way that the court’s conducted themselves is totally inappropriate. They ignored clear evidence that we presented to them.”

Nunes stressed that the damning information was not yet available to the general public, but the court had it “and did nothing about it.”

According to Nunes, the court was not being entirely truthful when it claimed in the letter that it had just found out about the FBI’s misconduct because he had already tipped them off to the problems."
That 1st and last sentence are contradictory, but set that aside; I agree with Nunes and others who correctly discern the FISC is systemically flawed and ripe for abuse. IG Horowitz report proved it. Yet, the Republicans had control of Congress until the mid-terms in 2018. So, my question still & again is "Where was this vaunted Congressional oversight during all this FISC abuse by the FBI?"

Thank You Dems! Trump’s Approval Rating Jumps 6 Points
"A Gallup poll released Wednesday morning gives President Trump an approval rating 45% and reports that only 46% of Americans want to see the President impeached and removed from office. The poll was conducted Dec. 2-15, at the same time nasty Nancy and her two senior executioners Schiff and Nadler, were holding impeachment hearings."

Netflix Blasted for Portraying Jesus Christ as a Gay Man sodomite.
"“In the trailer for the 46-minute satire, from YouTube sketch show “Porta dos Fundos,” Jesus (Gregorio Duvivier) and Orlando (Fábio Porchat) walk in on a surprise party thrown by his parents and friends, who try to figure out who his new companion is,” the New York Post reported."
I wonder if there'll be violent riots in Benghazi where Americans will be murdered? Meanwhile, I'll await the debauched portrayals of Mohammed from the Obama's $60 million sweetheart deal as NetFlix producers.

Socialism Violates the 10 Commandments
"I’ve never heard socialism described this way, and it makes sense: anyone who is supposedly religious can’t subscribe to both socialism and religion. Well, of course, they can, but it must be difficult to ignore the cognitive dissonance."

Federal Judge Allows Dead Purged From Georgia Voter Rolls - Dems Claim Voter Suppression
"And now we read in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that following a ruling by U.S. District Judge Steve Jones Monday, the number of registered voters in Georgia is about to be reduced by approximately 309,000 names. Georgia law requires voter names purged after voters fail to vote in elections for several years, one of nine states with similar requirements called “use it or lose it.” All states are bound by federal law to regularly update voter rolls."
As an election judge in Jackson County, Missouri, I know that Missouri is one of those nine states. It's a simple system: the election board regularly mails out 'notice of election' postcards to all registered voters in the county. Some get returned as 'un-deliverable / not at this address. Those returns are flagged as 'inactive,' and mailings to that address are stopped. Then, after that inactive voter fails to vote in 2 consecutive federal elections, or otherwise contact the election board to update their registration, that voter gets dropped from the rolls.

'Voter suppression' ain't a thing. It's the election board following the law to maintain up-to-date voter rolls. Period.

A Wisconsin County circuit judge sided with group known as Will and ordered Wisconsin to remove 234,000 voters from voting rolls
"Earlier this year, Wisconsin election officials sent out notices to about 234,000 people – 7% of registered voters in the state – suspected of changing home addresses this year. They planned on giving people until the spring of 2021 to confirm their registrations before they were removed. But on Friday, county circuit judge Paul Malloy sided with Will and ordered the state to remove the voters from the state’s rolls within 30 days."
Inactives get dropped. Period. 'Voter suppression' ain't a thing. As a free citizen in a constitutional republic, it's your responsibility to make sure your voter registration is up-to-date - not the election board.

Facebook Says It Can Locate Users Even When They Opt Out Of Tracking
"In his letter, (deputy chief privacy officer, Rob) Sherman, said that Facebook tracks user’s whereabouts to help it and other internet firms protect accounts by detecting suspicious sign-in activities, to help improve targeted ads, and to prevent false news from spreading.

He added that Facebook uses a “centralized engineering team” to handle people’s location-relation information “consistently, responsibly and in conformance with people’s choices.”
'People’s choices.' Except their choice to opt out of being tracked. Right? How about this: You clowns are simply evil stalker doods spying on the unsuspecting and selling their private data for profit regardless of their choices.

Educating Rembrandt
"Both the exhibition and this book pose the same question: how did Rembrandt become Rembrandt? How did a miller’s son from a provincial city in Holland, born at the dawn of the 17th century, become one of the most famous painters in the world? Both seek the answer in his native city of Leiden."
