The USA Impeachment Follies for our Foreign Audience(3)

That audience is small, but growing.

I realize that U.S. republican (small 'r') politics may be hard to follow for those steeped in a parliamentary form of government, so here's the abstract: We do not have a 'no confidence' vote process. Our president is elected by the People, via the electoral college. He is not a creature of Congress. He is the president, the Chief Executive, one of three co-equal branches of government. The President is no more answerable to the Congress, anymore than the Congress is answerable to the President.

Each branch has specific duties, but more importantly, definite restrictions of power. The concept is called 'negative rights' - what government cannot do. We Americans like it. Well, most Americans. The Left hates it, like former potus Obama, and seeks to 'fundamentally transform America.' Our Second Amendment is the emergency stop for that nonsense.

There are basically 2 ways to remove a president: vote him out or impeach him. Both require he voluntarily step down. For 230 years, it's peacefully worked quite well. In 2019, what's being attempted against Trump isn't an impeachment as understood under our Constitution. It's a perversion of the process. It's fake; it's phoney. It's a naked soft coup to oust a duly elected president, much as it was 151 years ago against Pres. Andrew Johnson(D).

The Democrats telegraphed their intentions to remove Trump from office before Trump was even sworn into office back in January 2017. They thought Hillary would win, and be Obama's third term to 'fundamentally transform America.' They got 'America First' Trump, and Democrats are madder than a wet hornet's nest.

Last week, in a strictly party-line vote, 219 to 168, the House of Representatives voted to impeach President Trump on two counts: obstruction of Congress, and abuse of power.
Neither one is a violation of any law. They just don't exist - except in the fever swamp dreams of Leftists who hate Trump. Why? Up above: "...the Chief Executive, one of three co-equal branches of government. The President is no more answerable to the Congress, anymore than the Congress is answerable to the President."

Impeachment is the sole exception.

Now what? The Constitution requires the Senate conduct a trial; except it can't because House Speaker Nancy Pelosi(D) refused to hand over the 'very urgent, dire crisis to the nation' articles of impeachment to the Senate. Huh?

Jesse Waters at FOX News breaks down ‘Impeachment lite’ and analyzes House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s delay of the Senate impeachment trial.
