KC Chiefs Heading to Super Bowl for the first time in 50 years.

The Chiefs defeated the Tennessee Titans 35-24 at Arrowhead Stadium on this blistering cold Sunday afternoon. The Lamar Hunt  AFC Championship Trophy finally returns home.

The Chiefs will face the NFC champion (either Greenbay Packers or San Fransisco 49-ers) in Super Bowl LIV down in Miami 2 weeks from now.

Shelly Yang at the KC Star:
"The Tennessee Titans jumped out to a 10-0 first-quarter lead with a trip to Super Bowl LIV on the line.

And then Patrick Mahomes happened.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ signal-caller threw for 172 yards, two touchdowns and ran for another to take a 21-17 lead at halftime.

Mahomes finished the game completing 23 of 35 passes for 294 yards and three touchdowns, adding 53 yards rushing and a touchdown on eight carries to pace the Chiefs to a 35-24 win and a trip to Miami.

For a second straight week, the Chiefs had to over a double-digit deficit in the first quarter. The Titans scored on their first three possessions, but the Chiefs would follow with three straight touchdowns of their own after going three-and-out on their first first-half possessions.

In their past two games, the Chiefs have scored 42 total points in the second quarter, outscoring opponents 42-7 in the postseason.

Mahomes showed why he won the NFL’s 2018 MVP award with laser-like throws to wide receiver Tyreek Hill for two touchdowns in the first half. The Chiefs quarterback saved his best for late in the second quarter with an electrifying 27-yard touchdown run to give the Chiefs a lead they never relinquished.

...Sunday’s win ended two main droughts.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid entered the weekend with a 1-8 record against the Titans, which included four straight losses. Reid saw his team snap that streak in emphatic fashion for the chance to play for the league championship as the AFC’s representative.

Reid, who improved to 14-14 playoff career record, moved ahead of Mike Holmgren to rank sixth all-time in NFL history for career postseason wins by a head coach.

The Chiefs now return to the Super Bowl for the first time in 50 years."
