What a difference a few months can make.
In early June, Iran was at the apex of its power on the world stage. Aid to insurgents in Iraq, Afghanistan and Lebanon had helped convert Tehran into a regional superpower rivaled only by Israel. At home, hard-liners led by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had consolidated control of parliament, the judiciary and the military and marginalized reform parties.
This week, however, Iran heads into talks in Geneva with the U.S. and five other world powers more vulnerable at home and abroad than at any time since the revolution's chaotic early days. Despite defiant talk and a weekend display of military force, the world's only theocracy begins its most important diplomatic engagement in three decades in real trouble."
Slide into chaos? The apex of its power??
I suggest that Obama's sycophant lap dogs at TIME look up "1983 Beirut barracks bombing & 1988 Iranian hostage crisis" for the beginning of Iran's long slide into the totalitarian toilet.
Or TIME could look up Iran aquiring nuclear fuel from Russia in 2006. Or cutting off criminal's hands & feet under sharia law. (Thank God they didn't water board anyone). Or Iran targeting Coalition forces in Iraq!
And let's not forget, those Iranian propagandists suck at photoshop.
But what's a few morally equivalent, propaganda memory holes matter when writing about a totalitarian, suicide bombing, terrorist weapons supplying, holocaust denying, Jew killing, proxy army, islamic jihad regime launching medium range missiles and seeking nuclear weapons??
TIME must fawn over Iran's former apex of POWER.
Krykee. What a bunch o' tools.
