We are a government of ALL the people - not of a select few on powerful House committees. Unless the whole House votes on impeachment, it's simply more evidence this is a Democrat clown sh!t-show.
Trump Fires Back on Impeachment
Cristina Marcos at The Hill starts off pretty straight up, then veers off into Pelosi's opening argument against Trump, but I'll spare you:
"The White House in a blistering letter to Congress said Tuesday it would refuse to cooperate further with the House impeachment inquiry, arguing Democrats were pursuing a "constitutionally invalid" investigation of a duly-elected president.Read: Entire White House Letter to Pelosi Rejecting Cooperation in Impeachment Inquiry
“Given that your inquiry lacks any legitimate constitutional foundation, any pretense of fairness, or even the most elementary due process protections, the executive branch cannot be expected to participate in it,” White House counsel Pat Cipollone wrote in a letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and the three House committee chairmen leading the impeachment inquiry."
Marcos continues:
"Republicans also want a vote because it would put vulnerable Democrats on the record supporting an impeachment inquiry, and because they want equal subpoena power as had been granted in the past.Maybe. Maybe not. I think the Democrats already risk annihilation in the upcoming 2020 elections.
“In the history of our nation, the House of Representatives has never attempted to launch an impeachment inquiry against the president without a majority of the House taking political accountability for that decision by voting to authorize such a dramatic constitutional step,” Cipollone wrote in the letter to Pelosi and key committee chairmen.
Pelosi has said such a vote is unnecessary, and the Speaker almost certainly wants to avoid forcing her members to take that politically risky vote."
Impeachment Backfiring: New Poll Finds Independents Drifting to Supporting Trump
Plus, impeachment is merely step one of two. It's a process by the House against a president, akin to a grand jury indicting a suspect with a crime (insert 'ham sandwich' cliche, here). There still has to be a trial, and under the U.S. Constitution that takes place in the Senate. Conviction is a whole 'nuther matter, Vern.
But there's a hitch in that get-along: McConnell Ad Says Impeachment Effort Will Fail ‘With Me as Majority Leader'
Imho, Pelosi is desperate to derail Trump World because AG Bill Barr and his attack dog Durham continue to close in on Obama-Spygate conspirators.
Again, "the House of Representatives is now purporting to proceed an impeachment inquiry against the president, without conducting a vote on the house floor..."
That is the whole crux of this matter. Why? It's ostensibly a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. The President is the president of ALL the people. A select few representatives on powerful House committees cannot usurp power, then shut out all the other people's representatives in that process, while treating another co-equal branch as its b!tch.
Trump is correct to tell Pelosi, "Screw You & the Impeachment You Rode in On."
