The Boston News-Letter appeared weekly until 1776 and had no competition in Boston until December 21, 1719, when the first issue of the Boston Gazette appeared. Even Philadelphia and New York, the two largest cities in British America, lacked their own newspapers until 1719 and 1725 respectively. (and it was all downhill from there - LB1901)
*April 24, 1915: Armenian Genocide begins with arrests in Constantinople
Turkey's Muslim-dominated Ottoman government arrests 250 intellectuals and leaders of the minority Armenian Christian population. Within a week most will be executed, and within a few years an estimated 1.5 million Armenians will be killed in the 20th century's first genocide.
In the post-World War One period nearly four hundred of the key Ottoman officials (known as Young Turks) implicated in the atrocities committed against the Armenians were arrested. A handful were convicted of war crimes against the Armenian Christians and sentenced to death. However, the convicted eluded justice by fleeing abroad.
Most of those implicated in war crimes evaded justice and many joined the new Nationalist Turkish movement led by Mustafa Kemal. When Turkey was declared a republic in 1923 and received international recognition, the Armenian Question and all related matters of resettlement and restitution were swept aside and soon forgotten.

*Hubble Telescope Launched into Earth Orbit, April 24, 1990, Aboard Space Shuttle Discovery (STS-31)
Hubble's launch and deployment marked the most significant advance in astronomy since Galileo's telescope in 1610. Hubble is the first major optical telescope to be placed in space, the ultimate mountaintop. Above the distortion of the atmosphere, far above rain clouds and light pollution, Hubble has an unobstructed view of the universe. It has discovered evidence of supermassive black holes at galaxy centers, produced the first observations of disks around young stars, tracked storms on gas giants, revealed that the universe's expansion is accelerating, and, of course, taken incredible portraits of the cosmos.
The Hubble telescope is named after astronomer Edwin Hubble, and has been in continuous use for 30 years.

Brit Hume: Time To Consider Lockdown Possibly ‘A Colossal Public Policy Calamity’
"Hume argued that America needs to move forward with sustainable mitigation factors. “What they’re talking about is moving forward, ending the lockdown, allowing people to continue to take the measures of avoiding crowds, washing your hands a lot, social distancing wherever possible — you can do that in offices, you can stagger the way people come to work. Some people stay home some days. Some people come in. There’s an awful lot that could be done. Wearing masks when indoors, particularly in stores and so on.” he said, adding, “Those things are all reasonable precautions and it seems to me we have the experience of suggesting that they work.”"Agreed. Grocers, hardware, liquor, daycare, NY subways (subways!), government agencies, media companies, etc. are all 'allowed' to stay open because - why? The magical thinking of virus immunity is provided inside those establishments? Nope. Reasonable precautions, which can be adopted by ALL businesses. #NotJustAboutaVirus
Remember when Leftists screamed “people are not illegal” down at the southern border, yet now Leftists declare “some people are not essential.” Weird. #NotJustAboutaVirus
NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo(D) to Economic Protesters: ‘Get a Job as an Essential Worker’
“You can get a job as an essential worker, so now you can go to work and you can be an essential worker and you’re not going to kill anyone.”Again, why? The magical thinking of virus immunity is provided by 'essential' - and 'non-essential' are 'going to kill?' Piss off with your false premise, you insufferable demagog. If it was true, how come your little brother Chris hasn't died from Wuhan Virus?

Democrats plan to censure lawmaker who credited Trump for COVID-19 recovery
"The admonition means she will not get the group’s endorsement for this year nor will she be able to engage in the group’s activities for the next two election cycles.'Do not belong to themselves.' Democrats are still the party of slavery & Jim Crow.
“At the end of the day, we have political systems,” said Jonathan Kinloch, chairman of the organization. “We have political parties, and political parties exist for a reason.
“They do not belong to themselves,” Kinloch said of endorsed candidates and elected officials. “They belong to the members and precinct delegates of the Democratic Party.”"
The way the Democrat Party has treated me this past week has made one thing clear: they are the bigots they claim to hate and I won’t be silent about it. pic.twitter.com/9kE9kcfWKS— Vernon Jones (@RepVernonJones) April 23, 2020
Yesterday, I announced my intentions to resign from my office. But shortly thereafter, the outpour of support I received was too great for me to ignore.— Vernon Jones (@RepVernonJones) April 23, 2020
I will not allow the Democrats to bully me into submission. I will not let them win.
I will NOT resign. #MAGA pic.twitter.com/gR2MsU5Rb3

How To Zero Your Preps, by G.W.D.
"Without going into the weeds of our discussion, our takeaway was that we cannot only focus too far down the road for uncertainties, nor can we focus only on the present. It struck me that living a life of preparedness is not unlike choosing the sighting range for your rifle, we must decide how far down the road do we plan while also being effective in the short range. Regardless of the distance at which you zero, each comes with its own benefits and compromises."Calm wisdom amid all storms of life. RTWT
