9.5 Million People Have Left the Workforce Under Obama

'Since February 2009, the first full month of Obama’s presidency, 9,549,000 people have left the labor force.  There were 80,387,000 Americans not working that month, compared with 89,936,000 not working or looking today, according to the latest economic release from BLS.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) labels people who are unemployed and no longer looking for work as “not in the labor force,”and that includes people who have retired on schedule, taken early retirement, or simply given up looking for work.

In the 50 months since Obama has been in office, the number of people counted as not in the labor force has declined 16 times.'

'Homeland Security has more or less laughed off 'found it so inherently unbelievable that those statements would be made it was hard to ascribe credibility to them.'

Uh, huh. But that's not a 'no.'

The ammo in question is .40 caliber and 9mm hollow point bullets - which are prohibited under the Geneva Convention. The Department of Homeland Security seeks to purchase 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition over the next few years.

IBD did the math (via Jazz Shaw at Hotair):

'Chaffetz noted that the department currently has more than 260 million rounds in stock. He said the department bought more than 103 million rounds in 2012 and used 116 million that same year among roughly 70,000 agents.

Comparing that with the small-arms purchases by the U.S. Army, he said the DHS is churning through between 1,300 and 1,600 rounds per officer per year, while the Army goes through roughly 350 per officer.'

Homeland security claims all that ammo is needed  'for training.' Yet, the question remains unasked and unanswered: Training for what??

'In a July 2, 2008 speech in Colorado Springs, candidate Obama said: "We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."

The government that would limit law-abiding citizens to some seven bullets to defend their families and their homes still has some explaining to do.'

'Sponsoring Republican Sen. Eric Schmitt, of Glendale, said his bill is an important consumer protection as credit card usage grows. Retailers could be charged with a Class D felony for continuing to assess a surcharge. (typically 1.5 to 3 percent).'

Opponents say businesses need to charge extra because it's expensive to allow credit cards as a form of payment. Schmitt says retailers could build that cost into an item's price rather than charge the extra fee.'

And there you have it; our betters in gub'mint with their genius thought process: take away consumer choice, and make it more expensive for everyone.

But not all retailers like the surcharge idea, nor will they add they surcharge. And what's to prevent a work-around like providing a discount to cash customers?

I got a crazy idea: why not treat customers like responsible adults and let the market place decide!!

Until this January, companies like Visa and MasterCard had policies that prohibited participating retailers from adding surcharges. The settlement of an antitrust suit brought by some retailers forced the change. Debit cards are exempt.

Yet, as many as 10 states already have laws on the books to prohibit the credit card surcharge. Missouri seeks to be the eleventh, with 12 more states considering the legislation.

Go away. STOP. HELPING. US.
