MyBook? FaceSpace? Wait... Facebook. I tried. I really did. Honest. But it sucks. Major suckage. Insidious. Like a swarm of bugs. Yet many places I traveled through the inter-tubes required a Facebook account - in order to comment on a blog. Supwitdat?? So signed up. Branch out, I said. Try new things. Call me pragmatic. But for months, there it sat. My Facebook page, yet it was my log-in key to troll, er... illuminate other blog worlds with my erudite ruminations. Then I decides to post stuff on my Facebook page. No, I don't have some weepy Sally Fields "you really like me" fetish. And I don't care to be your tangentially obscure inter-tube 'friend', either. I simply tried to blog on Facebook. Big mistake, like trying to shoot pool with a rope: you can't edit posts; resize images; embed video; free form html of any sort; etc.

In short, Facebook sucks. Give me a backwater blog with wide margins and too many tools I don't know how to use, any day! - LB1901

Update: I'll attempt to transmigrate some of my erudite Facebook ruminations over here shortly. And for the dedicated reader of this blog (thanx, Mom!), I'll attempt to start blogging again. Stay tuned, citizens. It's going to be a bumpy ride.

"Plug the Damn Hole."

(Reuters) - President Barack Obama has privately expressed his frustration to senior government officials that the Gulf of Mexico oil spill has not been stopped and has made clear his feelings about it...

U.S. officials recognize only BP has the technology and expertise to handle the gusher. "Well, to push BP out of the way would raise a question, to replace them with what?" said Thad Allen, in charge of the U.S. response to the disaster."

Of course, the real question should be why do we have loon toon radical enviro-nutjobs determining our energy policy and driving oil companies miles off-shore, under the most extreme circumstances, smack dab in the middle of hurricane alley, atop the edge of the continental shelf to drill for oil one mile down to the ocean floor which resulted in a horrendous disaster that killed 11 platform workers and injured 17 others??

But that would require common sense. Something sorely lacking on the Left.

Meanwhile, the insane clown posse has lots o' demand for their holistic services:

Louisiana's Jindal: Where's Obama?

Plug the damn border, Mr. President.

Just Plug the Damn HOLES, Mr. President.

Update: The estimable Charles Krauthammer agrees with moi:
"All spills seriously damage wildlife. That's a given. But why have we pushed the drilling from the barren to the populated, from the remote wilderness to a center of fishing, shipping, tourism and recreation?

Not that the environmentalists are the only ones to blame. Not by far. But it is odd that they've escaped any mention at all."

Indeed.

Still No Love for Tennessee?

This is a test. Do not be alarmed. It's only a photo-op.

Meanwhile, armies of volunteers help Tennessee residents facing long recovery.

"The torrential rains that fell as May began created the worst natural disaster in the modern history of this part of the state, causing unprecedented flood damage, killing 23 people and leaving thousands displaced.

But in the aftermath, residents continue to show the world why Tennessee is known as the Volunteer State."

And just like the 2008 floods in Iowa, Illinois & Missouri, there's still no sign of Heineken looters or hollyweird hypocrites in leaky boats.

Funny how that works.

Although, to their credit, the loon toon liberals haven't admitted to any 'neo-nazi' apparitions.
"Forty-two counties have been classified as national disaster areas, and 600 representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency have set up shop in middle Tennessee to inspect properties and assess the damage. Approximately 23,000 Tennesseans have already registered with FEMA, and more than $51 million in federal aid has been approved. The state also is dipping into its "rainy day fund" to help residents."

Round Up Donkeys; Hunt RINOs

Marc A. Thiessen has a good op/ed in the WaPo about how Republicans, not Democrats, dominate the all important Senate Appropriations Committee. (my bold)

"Outside the halls of Congress, Republican politicians are divided into moderates and conservatives. But in the culture of the Senate, the real distinction is not between left and right but between appropriators and the rest. Appropriators hold the purse strings and dispense government largesse. They cut the backroom deals and decide who does and does not get an earmark. They are courted by lobbyists and feted by industries eager to get a piece of the government pie. They are the ones who gave us the "bridge to nowhere" and other infamous special deals. In other words, they represent everything that the grass-roots movement for fiscal discipline sweeping our country detests."
That means the PORK Barrel, boys n girls.

Come November, just remember: Round Up Donkeys, but Hunt RINOs.

What was that about rancor, Mr.President?

Big Pay Outs Beget Bigger Pay Offs

From The Hill:

Unions to spend $100M in 2010 campaign to save Democrat majorities.

"The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) plans to spend in excess of $50 million during the 2010 campaign, part of which will fund “a massive incumbent protection program,” according to Gerry McEntee, president of the union.

AFSCME spent roughly $67 million on its political activities in 2008. But the $50 million slated for the 2010 elections is the largest expenditure the union will make in a midterm election, according to union officials. The money will go to help defend the union’s top tier of eight Senate seats and 34 House members.

“We have got to protect the incumbency in the House. We have got to protect the incumbency in the Senate,” McEntee said. “It is going to be hard. Those tea-baggers are out there. There is an anti-incumbency mood out there.”"

Protectionism. Cronyism. Payoffs. Look for the union label.

And you thought politicians were only in the pocket of Big Business.

Plus, there's Obama's buds - the SEIU which "plans to spend $44 million in total on its 2010 election program. The union spent $85 million on its 2008 campaign, according to union officials."

Their chief worry, of course, being those evil "tea-baggers."

I, for one, am surprised. Who knew so many democrats were queer and eager to suck the sweat off those Red, White & Blue TEA bags??

Political M4sturbation Times Four

Seattle joins Los Angeles, San Diego and Austin, Texas to officially boycott Arizona over it's new anti-illegal immigration law.

Seattle City Council approves Arizona boycott.

"However, the Seattle City Council's 7-0 vote on Monday to boycott the state won't have much practical effect.

The council's resolution was written to protect the only substantial contract Seattle has with an Arizona company - a $106,000-a-month deal with American Traffic Solutions. The Scottsdale-based company operates Seattle's 29 red-light cameras."

And as we all know, red light cams are cash cows for large metro areas. In 2007 alone, Seattle grossed $1.1 million in fines from the 6 cameras it initially installed. By 2008, Seattle had 30 red light cameras.

So it's all really quite progressive: Indulge in worthless symbolism to sate tender liberal emotions - as long as it doesn't inhibit the flow of cash to the coffers.

But in the bizarre-o world of liberalism, can cities boycott themselves?

Only in the land of fruits n nuts, my friend.

1 John 1: 5 - 10

5) This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.

6) If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.

7) But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

8) If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

9) If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

10) If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

From ABC News:

"I think there's a real problem here for Democrats," Buchanan said on "GMA." "What's motivating these voters is this huge debt that we have, this increasing deficit, the incredible unwillingness for Washington to get control of this spending."

"People are unnerved by this," she said. "They pull in their belts, and communities and states are pulling in theirs, Washington just keeps spending as [if] that's the only solution. You can't solve that in the next six months."

Democrat Rep. Sanchez Warns Joggers
Against Arizona Gestapo

Or something.

From the Politico's "Arena" - a forum for discussion of healthcare, but oddly enough, California democrat representative Linda Sanchez chimed in on Arizona's new anti-illegal immigration law in that forum. Hint: she doesn't like it.

"...say you’re out for your morning jog, you get called over by a policeman who then asks for your proof of citizenship. Since you just ran out of your house for a quick jog, you don’t have anything on your body but your iPod, so you’re arrested for failure of proof of citizenship and taken to jail and threatened with deportation. How do you feel now?"

Feel?

I think your argument is pathetic. Perhaps Rep. Sanchez should actually read the law, a law that mirrors federal law; albeit, a law ignored by this third term of the Bush administration, which has nothing to do with police stopping joggers (or anyone else) willy-nilly and demanding proof of citizenship.

But, it's a tried-n-true scare tactic of Leftists to posit the most implausible improbability to undermine common sense. And if you disagree, you're obviously racist. This incongruous blather is what passes for political discourse in this country, citizens.

Two other democrats, Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.), who was arrested earlier this month in an immigration protest near the White House, and Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-Ariz.), who has called for boycotts of business within Arizona (a bonehead cry he now regrets. Surprise!), joined Rep. Sanchez in opposition to this new Arizona law with their own published hyperbole in Politico's "Arena."

This trio of democrat politicians are also upset with polling data showing overwhelming support for the new law.
"Sanchez, who along with Gutierrez and Grijalva is a member of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, also criticized surveys whose wording she said was too abstract."

Must be the wrong kind of democracy for these Leftists.

There's no word on what the Congressional Caucasian Caucus has to say about these polls, though.

BTW: Obama's AG, Eric Holder, hasn't read the AZ law, either.

9 Indicted for Accessing Obama College Records

On the heels of last month's felony conviction of David C. Kernell - the son of a prominent Tennessee democrat politician - for the 2008 hacking of Sarah Palin's private email account, come indictments against 9 people for invading the privacy of the President of the United States.

If these 9 didn't know how to spell "dumb 4ss" before this, they do now.

From the AP:

"DES MOINES, Iowa — Nine people were indicted Wednesday on federal charges of accessing President Barack Obama's student loan records while they were employed for a Department of Education contractor in Iowa.

The U.S. attorney's office said a grand jury returned the indictments in U.S. District Court in Davenport.

All nine are charged with exceeding authorized computer access. They are accused of gaining access to a computer at a Coralville office where they worked between July 2007 and March 2009, and accessing Obama's student loan records while he was either a candidate for president, president-elect or president."

If convicted, each could face up to one year in prison and a fine of up to $100,000.

This is not the first time for unauthorized access of Obama's private information. In 2008, two state department contract employees were fired and a third disciplined for improperly accessing the passport files of democratic Senators Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton, and Republican John McCain.

Also in 2008, Helen Jones-Kelly, director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services - and maximum Obama campaign contributor - illegally conducted 18 searches into the private records of Joe "The Plumber" Wurzelbacher, after Joe's famous on-camera 'you want to spread the wealth' exchange with candidate Barack Obama.

After a 30-day unpaid suspension, Jones-Kelly resigned in disgrace from her job as director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

I guess her services as a gub'mint snitch weren't appreciated.

Let this be a lesson to you, boys n girls; cats n kittens; democrats and republicans - stay out of other people's private biddnessss!

I Got a Visit From A Census Worker

It was yesterday. She wanted to obtain my census information.

She was a very nice young lady who eagerly showed me her official Dept. of Commerce non-photo I.D. badge, and her official Census Bureau worker shoulder bag emblazoned with the official "U.S. Census Bureau" logo on its side. The bag contained a very informative brochure printed in a multi-culturally sensitive 51 languages -- from Albanian to Yiddish -- which, I presume, was for all those non-English speaking peoples the census bureau needs to e pluribus unum.

Despite the fact that she never offered to read the questionaire to me in Amharic, Romanian, or Yiddish, nor that I couldn't tell the difference between an official Dept. of Commerce I.D. badge and a fake ginned up by a crook, I was more than happy to speak with this $15/hr worker eagerly participating in the country's business.

Although, I do find it odd that the U.S. gub'mint will require a photo I.D. as a condition for employment screening of these census workers, yet, somehow, this requirement is "disenfranchising" when it comes to asking it of voters participating in our democratic process, which the census impacts. It's reminiscent of the photo I.D. hypocrisy demanded by our own President Obama for those attending his 2008 election night party, but these census workers going door-to-door in our neighborhoods aren't provided with photo I.D.

Funny how that works.

After the initial introduction and pleasantries, I informed the young lady that I had dutifully mailed my census form to the govt. back in March. She responded that things sometimes get mislaid, misplaced, or misapplied. I facetiously replied that I was shocked such blunders could befall our federal bureaucracy. She looked perplexed, and there was a pause, as if her information gathering rote was incapable of processing the jocular joust at her employer.

I ended the awkward moment by volunteering to tell her the same thing as I wrote down on the census form that was dutifully mailed to the census bureau back in March - "There are three people living here."

"Is there anything else you would like to tell me?" she asked.

"Nope," I responded.

She then asked my name, wrote down my address, and went on her merry way - no doubt to warn Janet Napolitano about the anti-gub'mint, wingnut danger which I pose to this great Republic.

Update: Doug Powers, guest hosting over at MM, apparently experienced a similar federal bureaucracy blunder.

Dead Dolphins on Gulf Shores a Normal Occurrence

From a dejected ABC News:

Oil Leak and Dead Dolphins Not Necessarily Connected.

"They may be dramatic, but federal officials are warning that pictures of dead dolphins washing ashore in gulf states may not have anything to do with the oil leak coming from the Deepwater Horizon disaster site.

"Even before this oil spill occurred, we were experiencing unusually high stranding rates," said Blair Mase, NOAA's southeast region marine mammal strandings coordinator.

Dolphin strandings are common, said Mase, who noted that 57 bottlenose dolphins were found stranded on beaches in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana in the month of March alone."

Lab testing on 66 sea turtles found dead on Mississippi beaches earlier this May came up negative for oil contamination, also.

But NOAA won't let facts get in the way of finding someway to convict the evil Gaia hating kabal of Big Oil, Deathstar Cheney and Halliburton for these marine animal deaths.
"Because they've come in during this event and because there's a possibility they could have been affected by oil inhalation and that sort of thing, we are going to treat it as an oiled animal," Mase said.

The narrative has been settled.

"They can only pay us in IOUs anyway"

Lybian Jetliner Crashes; 104 Onboard, One Boy Survives

Although this AP story makes no mention of terrorism, or the Lockerbie bomber, who now lives in Lybia as a national hero, I must confess that my first thought upon reading about this tragedy was "Where's Ali al-Megrahi?", but I'm cynical that way.

"TRIPOLI, Libya – A Libyan plane carrying 104 people crashed Wednesday on approach to Tripoli's airport, leaving a field scattered with smoldering debris that included a large chunk of the tail painted with the airline's brightly colored logo. A 10-year-old Dutch boy was the only known survivor.

The Dutch prime minister said everyone on the Afriqiyah Airways Airbus A330-200 arriving from Johannesburg, South Africa was killed except the boy, who was undergoing surgery. However, Libyan officials only confirmed that 96 bodies had been found and said rescuers were searching for the rest of the victims.

The Royal Dutch Tourism Board said 61 of the dead came from the Netherlands."

God rest their souls. Our prayers and well wishes go out to their friends and families.

Westboro Baptist Church: 1st Amendment Crusaders?

The city of Topeka won't force removal of vandals' graffiti from Westboro Baptist Church. City spokesman David Bevens stated that First Amendment concerns would probably outweigh provisions of city's public nuisance ordinance which require removal of such offenses from public view.

That, and there's no sense in giving these putrid cultists anymore free publicity. No arrests have been made for the vandalism.

"The red and black graffiti — including phallic images, references to God and anal sex — spanned the two-car garage door.

A disparaging reference to female genital organs was painted on a wall of the church. A swastika and other graffiti painted on the driveway and garage wall appeared to depict the church as a meeting place for the Ku Klux Klan.

While the church has repaired vandalism in the past, (Church spokeswoman Shirley) Phelps-Roper said members decided to leave this week's graffiti, calling it the "face of Topeka" and the nation.

"We've decided — in as much as we've been telling this nation that they are a rebellious, good-for-nothing group — that we are going to leave it," she said."

How laughable. An open sewer that calls itself a 'church' complaining about the town's dirty laundry. Westboro Baptist Church is infamous for celebrating the deaths of servicemen & servicewomen as God's judgment upon America for embracing homosexuality. Vandals enjoy greater respect.

Still, it points to the great strength of this nation and it's willingness to defend the right of free speech - even the most reprehensible of speech - from the most reprehensible of people who disrespect & dishonor those who would give their lives to defend that very right.

A tragic irony that I'm sure is lost on these obtuse, putrid cultists at Westboro.

Greece Fire Singes All

Robert Samuelson writes of The Welfare State's Death Spiral:

"Greece illustrates the bind. To gain loans from other European countries and the International Monetary Fund, it embraced budget austerity. Average pension benefits will be cut 11 percent; wages for government workers will be cut 14 percent; the basic rate for the value added tax will rise from 21 percent to 23 percent. These measures will plunge Greece into a deep recession. In 2009, unemployment was about 9 percent; some economists expect it to peak near 19 percent.

If only a few countries faced these problems, the solution would be easy. Unlucky countries would trim budgets and resume growth by exporting to healthier nations. But developed countries represent about half the world economy; most have overcommitted welfare states. They might defuse the dangers by gradually trimming future benefits in a way that reassured financial markets. In practice, they haven't done that; indeed, President Obama's health program expands benefits. What happens if all these countries are thrust into Greece's situation? One answer -- another worldwide economic collapse -- explains why dawdling is so risky."

So, what do the Obama lovin' mental midgets at the NY Times advise? Common sense, actually. Conservative economic common sense. NYT Tells Greece to Abandon Socialized Medicine.

I wonder what advice the NY Times has for America's most bankrupt state?

Or are we not entitled to that much common sense?

No Surprise as to Why It's Called 'Lapdog' Media

"Two things about the AP story immediately jump out at the reader. First, it is based on interviews with administration sources. It accepts their narrative and repeats it uncritically. Second, despite describing the Obama administration's response as "aggressive," the AP does not detail a single action taken by the administration that did anything to effectively combat the spill. Yet this doesn't seem to bother the AP; its analysis takes place entirely on a symbolic level.

Actually, if you pay attention to the dates, the AP documents, as many others have, the slow pace of the administration's response to the spill..."

The End of the World as We Know It

"America Alone" is the title of Mark Steyn's latest book. It's about the onslaught of Islamic Jihad against the West, and how the West doesn't seem to have the will to defend its history, culture or future against the malignancy of mohammedism which is rapidly perverting Europe into Eurabia.

The American Academy of Pediatrics endorses 'ritualistic' female circumcision. In the U.S. of A.

"The academy’s committee on bioethics, in a policy statement last week, said some pediatricians had suggested that current federal law, which “makes criminal any non-medical procedure performed on the genitals” of a girl in the United States, has had the unintended consequence of driving some families to take their daughters to other countries to undergo mutilation.

“It might be more effective if federal and state laws enabled pediatricians to reach out to families by offering a ritual nick as a possible compromise to avoid greater harm,” the group said."
The AAP might as well endorse blood letting & incantations. This 'outreach' is derived from total ignorance about the brutality against females in some Muslim cultures in Africa and Asia. "Female circumcision" - more accurately defined as a clitorectomy - is nothing more than genital mutilation performed by Elders, for the sole perceived purpose of reducing sexual temptation. It serves no medical purpose.
"Currently, more than 130 million women and girls worldwide have undergone female genital cutting, according to the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. It is mostly performed on girls younger than 15 in countries including Ethiopia, Sudan and Somalia. Consequences can include severe complications with pregnancy, childbirth and sexual dysfunction."

2 Thessalonians 3:1-5

1 Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:

2 And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.

3 But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.

4 And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you.

5 And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.

Principal Apologizes to American Flag Wearing Students

From FOX News:

"A California high school principal has apologized for telling five students they couldn't wear U.S. flag shirts on Cinco de Mayo, the local superintendent said Friday."
Si se puede!

Maestro, a little schadenfreude please

Newsweek is drowning in red ink and looking for a buyer. Ace gloats, with about 2,038 words too many, but manages to make a cogent point about this failed entity (see last paragraph).

But, hey. It's a busy Saturday, so here's the Cliffs Notes: Newsweek failed ’cause it’s a longtime hard left agitprop tool wearing out “I (heart) Obama” knee pads faster than it could be re-supplied. The preposterous had turned pathetic.

Universal application: insert CNN, TIME, or any major newspaper for “newsweek.”

Repeat.

And dump your stock.

*Amber Jennings, guilty of sex with a 16 y.o.

*Carrie McCandless, guilty of sex with one of her students during field trip.

The list goes on and on...

Your tax dollars at work. And your children in persistent danger at gub'mint schools. Yet, where's the outrage?

I'll say it again: If this horrible pattern of disfunction & abuse were to occur at a church, youth organization, or private school there would be such a media scream of condemnation and cry for retribution which would have any administrator, supporter, or financier associated with such private enterprise tarred, feathered and banished to the darkest margins of society, if not imprisoned.

And rightly so.

Yet, we the people, bow down before the alter of the NEA & tax funded ‘public’ education that includes all, offends none, accepts everything, and only occasionally abuses or assaults our children, because we supposedly are an open minded, and ‘enlightened’ society.

Denied only certain choices, of course.

Chicago Teacher's Union Hates Poor, Mostly Black School Children

Illinois House kills school voucher bill. Fervent lobbying by unions sinks idea to give students $3,700 to switch from failing, inner-city government schools to private or parochial schools.

"Teachers unions argued the legislature should be voting for an income tax increase that would help all students, not just a few, and that vouchers could cost public school teaching jobs."
There you have it. It's all about preserving union jobs, not providing the best educational choices for the children.

The unions seem to have this entitlement mentality that it's their money. But it's not their money. It's your tax dollars at work. And poor, mostly Black, children suffer.

Where's the outrage?

Looney Toons

But it's not funny.

Denial over the bomb plot By Joan Vennochi / Boston Globe
"Nine years after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11 and the corresponding war on terror that American troops have been fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, the average citizen gets it. Some Muslim extremists want to kill Americans and will keep on trying to accomplish their mission.

It’s the first thought that registers when a bomb is placed in cars, shoes, or underwear by someone described as Muslim. What’s so terrible about acknowledging that link?"

10 Questions About the NYC Car Bomb Plot By Judith Miller / FOXNews.com
"Here's just some of what I want to know about the failed car bombing in New York's Times Square..."

Remain vigilant on terror threat - The Denver Post Editorial
"Even before investigators knew enough to connect Shahzad to Saturday's failed bombing, Janet Napolitano implausibly assured Americans the incident was a "one-off," or some character acting alone.

Given that investigators still didn't know what they were up against, it should have been impossible for Napolitano to make such an assertion. Coupled with her praise for the system in Abdulmutallab's failed attempt on Christmas day — she initially said it "worked really, very, very smoothly" — it gives the appearance the Obama administration is quick to wave off the ongoing threat to Americans as if not wanting to rattle us.

Meanwhile, the Fort Hood massacre in November exposed a culture among military and security officials that put the laudable desire to be tolerant of religious beliefs above the safety of Americans. Though Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan had a track record for promoting jihad and investigators were aware he had exchanged e-mails with the radical imam Anwar al-Awlaki, the psychiatrist continued his career until he shouted "Allahu Akbar!" while killing a dozen soldiers and a civilian."
We get it. We all understand this deadly terror threat from far off lands with strange names, odd languages and a bizarre death cult h3ll bent upon our destruction. Except this administration doesn't get it. The Obama administration is blinded by its maniacal, prejudiced pursuit of "man-caused" disasters from the phantom menace of European ancestry spouting Scripture and clinging to rusty rifles in the backwoods of America as public enemy number one.

His lapdogs in the MSM encourage this irrational narrative.

God forbid, but one day our luck will run out, and this administration will be guilty of gross negligence.

Reason Number 236 Kalifornia Needs to Slide Off into the Pacific

Students Threatened with Suspension for Wearing American Flag Shirts on Cinco de Mayo. At Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill, California.

Seriously. Read that again.

The principal warned the five boys that the shirts were "incendiary" and could lead to fights on campus. The boys were told to take off the shirts or go home. The boys went home to avoid the suspension.

No word if any Latino students were warned against starting trouble, but if I had to guess, the school administrators probably cowered under their standard issue "zero tolerance" P.C. umbrellas muttering La Racist platitudes for reassurance.

"But to many Mexican-American students at Live Oak, this was a big deal. They say they were offended by the five boys and others for wearing American colors on a Mexican holiday.

"I think they should apologize cause it is a Mexican Heritage Day," Annicia Nunez, a Live Oak High student, said. "We don't deserve to be get disrespected like that. We wouldn't do that on Fourth of July."
That's because you're the beneficiary of an education paid for by the American tax payer at an American High School in the U.S. of A., you obtuse PUNK.

All 5 boys and their families have refused to apologize and have met with district officials about this incident.
"The district released a statement saying it does not agree with how Live Oak High School administrators handled this incident. The boys will not be suspended and they were told they can go back to school Thursday."
Update: ACLU. Paging the ACLU.

Hello? Anybody?

Oops. I guess these kids would only be free speech heros if they had desecrated the American flag. I wonder if they say the Pledge of Allegience in that school?

Silly question.

Volokh cites the California Education Code, and concludes that it looks like the school violated the districts own statute, especially in light of the claim that "More than 100 students were spotted wearing red, white and green as they were leaving school. Some had the Mexican flag painted on their faces or on their arms."

Yet it was the five students wearing American flag apparel who deemed "incendiary."

Reconquista, indeed.

Obama Biggest Recipient of British Petroleum Cash

For the last 20 years Obama has enjoyed the largess of BP to the tune of $77,051.

Numero dos? Rep. Don Young (R- AK) banking $73,300 from BP.

"In 2008 alone, BP gave $37,000 to members of the House Energy Committee and $106,501 to members of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, which deals with security issues facing the nation’s oil supply.

BP has also evolved in its corporate giving over the past decade, shifting more money to Democrats. In 2000, the company gave almost 39 percent more to Republicans than to Democrats. But by 2008, Democrats had nearly pulled even with Republicans on BP donations."
But, hey. It's only those evil rethuglicans who are in the pocket of big oil.

And BP may not be paying out to this guy, but he does work for Obama. Or is it the American tax payer?

While Oil Slick Spread, Interior Department Chief of Staff Rafted with Wife in Grand Canyon.
"The Stricklands departed for the Grand Canyon three days after the leaks in the Deepwater Horizon pipeline were discovered. Ultimately, after the government realized that the spill was worse than had been previously thought, officials decided that Strickland was needed in the Gulf so Strickland was taken out of the Grand Canyon by a National Park Service helicopter.

One government official, asking for anonymity because of the political sensitivities involved, told ABC News that some Interior Department employees thought it was “irresponsible” for Strickland to have gone on the trip, given the crisis in the Gulf, which was fully apparent at the time he departed for the Grand Canyon."
Uh, oh.

U.S. exempted BP's Gulf of Mexico drilling from environmental impact study. Dated April 6, 2009.

Geologists Proclaim "We Maybe Running Out of Rocks!

"RALEIGH, NC—A coalition of geologists are challenging the way we look at global stone reserves, claiming that, unless smarter methods of preservation are developed, mankind will eventually run out of rocks.

"If we do not stop using them up at our current rate, rocks as we know them will be a thing of the past," renowned geologist Henry Kaiser said at a press conference Tuesday. "Igneous, metamorphic, even sedimentary: all of them could be gone in as little as 500,000 years."

"Think about it," Kaiser added. "When was the last time you even saw a boulder?"
Sounds fishy. Didn't this guy make cars or something?

Bloomberg's 4ss Hat Gets Even Bigger

After his wild speculative profiling of the then unknown Times Square bomber, and how that person could be "somebody with a political agenda that doesn’t like the healthcare bill or something," Bloomberg later mounted his trusty steed "Two-Faced" to declare that New York City "will not tolerate any bias."

Not satisfied with simply talking out of both sides of his mouth, the mayor of a city with the most restrictive gun laws in the nation now expels brain cells from a third orifice to chastise Homeland Security for not "closing the terror gap in our gun laws."

Shahzad Motive was Payback for U.S. Drone Attacks?

Pay attention, AP.

Apparently, the Times Square car bomb suspect, Faisal Shahzad, is upset with President Obama for continuing to air raid villages and kill civilians.

"That’s what the New York Post is reporting, at least. The tabloid, relying on anonymous “law-enforcement sources,” says that Shahzad was an “eyewitness” to the unmanned “onslaught throughout the eight months he spent in Pakistan beginning last summer.”

In a video made prior to the attack, the Pakistani Taliban leader Qari Hussain Mehsud said “the attack is a revenge” for “the recent rain of drone attacks,” and for the slaying of extremist leaders in Iraq and Pakistan."
Death by Drone has been a tactic embraced by President Obama, and I applaud the President for this efficient method of rat killin'.
During 2009, Obama's first year in office, there were 53 drone attacks VS. 36 the previous year from the hated boooshitler. If that accelerated pace continues, 2010's total will more than double that. But oddly enough, our vaunted MSM is eerily silent at this carnage.

Boooshitler has left the building.

"We've got to get the job done there and that requires us to have enough troops so that we're not just air-raiding villages and killing civilians, which is causing enormous pressure over there." -Barack Obama August 14, 2007

A Riddle, Wrapped in a Mystery, Inside an Enigma

From perplexed AP: NY car bomb suspect cooperates, but motive mystery.

"NEW YORK -- A man accused of trying to detonate a car bomb in Times Square had found the stable, suburban life he had spent a decade working toward, then abandoned his house in Connecticut and decided to supplement his business degrees with explosives training in Pakistan, authorities say."
Thankfully, this dipstick flunked that course, but the Pakistani Taliban are still claiming credit for the attempt. Desperate is as desperate does.

The rise of home grown Muslim extremism is well documented and the surge in home grown Muslim extremists eager to join Jihad and kill Americans is alarming, but for the AP, the motivation of this Times Square car bomb suspect, Faisal Shahzad, is a mystery.

It's apparently all a big mystery to Homeland Security, too.

Perhaps if the AP put eleven fact checkers on the hunt - like they did for Sarah Palin's 'going rogue' book - then the AP might get a clue.

But the real mystery is how this Times Square car bomb suspect managed to get a parking spot on Broadway!

Popular Mechanics thinks so.
"Each of the Might D Light's hinged panels has 40 super-bright LEDs protected by a polycarbonate lens. Coated Carbon Nanotubes Used to Generate Electricity

But since it involves fossil fuels and that ol' demon carbon, Al Gore's head will explode with the wrath of Shiva, and the nanotubes will be impounded with a millstone of oppressive taxation and cast into the lowest level of Gaia's abyss.

Or something.
"Carbon nanotubes are thin sheets of carbon rolled up into teensy tubes each with a diameter about 30,000 times smaller than a strand of hair.

When carbon — one of the most abundant elements on Earth — is rolled up into tubes, it exhibits some extraordinary properties such as high heat conduction, which the team exploited in the new study.

A carbon firecracker
The researchers coated the nanotubes with a fuel, such as gasoline or ethanol, and applied heat to one end. The result: The fuel reacts and produces more heat, which ignites more fuel to create even more heat.

The process creates “a wave that travels like dominoes falling in a line [down the length of the nanotube],” said study team member Michael Strano, a chemical engineer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

The resulting heat wave, it turns out, also creates a wave of electrons moving in one direction — aka electricity.

“The thermal wave squeezes electrons out of the nanotubes like a tube of toothpaste,” Strano explained.

The devices built in the MIT lab produced 10 times more power than a lithium-ion battery of equivalent mass."
Sounds promising, in geek sorta way. Kinda like storing solar electricity via massive liquid metal batteries - which operate at 700 degrees Celsius!

Ks. House Over-rides Veto of Late Term Abortion Bill

It now goes to the Kansas senate.

"The bill (House Bill 2115) would require doctors to submit more detailed reports to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment about abortions of viable fetuses after the 21st week of pregnancy. Such abortions are allowed in Kansas only to save the woman's life or prevent major damage to her mental health. Also, the bill would allow patients to file lawsuits against physicians if there was evidence an abortion was conducted in violation of state law, including if the paperwork was done incorrectly."

From the London Times:

"US authorities said they were treating the failed bombing , described as a “one-off” by Janet Nappolitano, the Home Security Secretary, as a potential terrorist attack, but said there was no evidence of a continued threat to New York.

Police released a photograph of the dark-colored SUV as it crossed an intersection at 6:28 p.m. Saturday. Two street vendors pointed the SUV out to a police officer about two minutes later after they noticed smoke coming from the Pathfinder, which had been parked haphazardly with its engine running and its hazard lights flashing.

Times Square was evacuated for ten hours as police defused the bomb and searched nearby streets for other possible explosives."

Misguided Open Borders Outrage

Victor Davis Hansen tries to define the furor over the new Arizona anti-illegal immigration law in four parts: the unfortunate matter of "presenting papers"; the matter of racial profiling; the matter of equality, fairness, and compassion; and on matters of Mexico's outrage.

Solid facts and reasonable conclusions - unlike the stuff oozing out of the White House. Or the mouths of La Racist agitators.

A Sad State of Affairs

Arizona deputy shot by suspected drug trafficker.
"(CNN) -- A sheriff's deputy in central Arizona was shot Friday afternoon by a suspected drug trafficker, authorities said.

The Pinal(sic) County deputy, who was not immediately identified, contacted authorities after being wounded in the desert, saying he had been shot by an illegal immigrant with an AK-47, said Lt. Tammy Villar, a sheriff's spokeswoman.

The deputy radioed that he had encountered five men, some wielding long guns and handguns, and said they were carrying a large amount of marijuana."
The shoot out had nothing to do with the recently enacted anti-illegal immigration law since that law doesn't go into effect for 90 days. Pima County is a busy entrance point for drug traffickers.
"The deputy was shot in the left abdomen and suffered a superficial wound, law enforcement sources said.

The search for the shooter continued into the evening."
Well wishes and prayers for the Deputy's speedy recovery, and the capture of the violent criminal who shot him.

Although, such a capture maybe unlikely based upon the corrupt comments from the Sheriff whom that wounded deputy works under, only for the fact that the Pima County Sheriff seems to think he can pick n choose which laws he enforces.
