Democrat Lt. Gov. Candidate Exits Illinois Race
"When he was a candidate, Cohen said a 2005 domestic battery case against him had been dismissed. It was revealed after he won the primary that his girlfriend at the time was a prostitute who accused him of threatening her with a knife, and the charge was dismissed only because she failed to appear in court, the Tribune reported.
Cohen admitted using steroids, allegedly failed to make child support payments and has been named in dozens of lawsuits in connection with back taxes, the newspaper said."
Wowser. How 'Chicago' of him.
The UPI devoted 3 whole paragraphs to the story. The NY Times matched the UPI. Not to be outdone, the Chicago Tribune went the extra mile and published two whole paragraphs.
I guess Mr. Cohen should've put an "R" after his name for incessant news coverage of his campaign, his (alleged) crimes, and political party.
But, to be fair (and we here at lb1901 are nothing, if not fair), after we complained about the AP's devotion of 981 words to the DC snow storm over the weekend, the AP did consume some bandwidth and wrote 623 words about crooked Cohen's Chicago trainwreck - after it made a noise too big to ignore.
But why were so many red flags not exploited by Cohen's competitors during the primaries??
