MyBook? FaceSpace? Wait... Facebook. I tried. I really did. Honest. But it sucks. Major suckage. Insidious. Like a swarm of bugs. Yet many places I traveled through the inter-tubes required a Facebook account - in order to comment on a blog. Supwitdat?? So signed up. Branch out, I said. Try new things. Call me pragmatic. But for months, there it sat. My Facebook page, yet it was my log-in key to troll, er... illuminate other blog worlds with my erudite ruminations. Then I decides to post stuff on my Facebook page. No, I don't have some weepy Sally Fields "you really like me" fetish. And I don't care to be your tangentially obscure inter-tube 'friend', either. I simply tried to blog on Facebook. Big mistake, like trying to shoot pool with a rope: you can't edit posts; resize images; embed video; free form html of any sort; etc.

In short, Facebook sucks. Give me a backwater blog with wide margins and too many tools I don't know how to use, any day! - LB1901

Update: I'll attempt to transmigrate some of my erudite Facebook ruminations over here shortly. And for the dedicated reader of this blog (thanx, Mom!), I'll attempt to start blogging again. Stay tuned, citizens. It's going to be a bumpy ride.

GM's New Obama Appointee wants to Declare Bankruptcy

After Obama & Co. dumped $14 billion tax payer dollars down that Detroit money pit.

But, hey. It’s all good. You three stooges don’t have to pay back the American taxpayers out of your own pocket.

Our raped wallet B*tt holes will heal up just fine.

So, you go right on ahead applying that zero business experience & pointy head academic theory till you completely kill our economy.

Really. We’re cool.

Obama's European Vacation: Table for 500+

Pres. Obama travels to London on Air Force One for the G20 Summit this Tuesday with an entourage of 500, an armour-plated limousine, a fleet of decoy helicopters, full kitchen staff, six personal physicians, and 200 secret service agents.

Pres. Obama's predecessor traveled heavy, too, with a decoy AF1 and a decoy motorcade of 20 armored vehicles. My guess is that Pres. Obama's security arrangements will be similar.

Not bad for guy who made the whole world love us again.

What won't be similar is the lefty soiled nappy outrage against this profusion of necessary precautions for a sitting president.

Also dissimilar will be the bucolic myrmidon silence that surely would have engendered raucous howls to 'impeach da chimp!' against the hated Boooshitler: Back room closed door meetings with many of the G20 heavy hitters.

"Indeed, despite all the heat and fury over this week's G20, the most important work might actually emerge from the meetings that Obama and his team have scheduled on the side, far away from the debate over the economic crisis. In effect, if the G20 were a party with a guest list, then Obama's series of mini-summits would be a VIP room; open only to a select few powerful players and conducted firmly behind closed doors."

The silence will be deafening from our conspicuously un-curious American media.

Both Mizzou & KU Denied Entry into the Final Four

WABC Reporter Killed After 'Rough Sex' by Satan Loving Homosexual Teen Prostitute

WABC radio reporter radio reporter George Weber was killed by the self-describe 'knife fetishist' after he paid the teen $60 for a "drug-fueled, rough sex romp." He was stabbed 50 times. Weber had answered a sex ad on Craig's List.

"He and Weber met online sometime last week and had arranged to meet," Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said. "There was going to be an exchange of money."

Katehis was charged as an adult with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon at his arraignment Wednesday night - charges that could send the tattooed teen to jail for a long time. He was held without bail."

Satan loving, homosexual, teen prostitute knife fetishists. Go figure.

100 Million Chinese Christians

Cattle Rustling Plagues Ranchers

From the trying to increase it's 'fly over country' readership NY Times:

"Still, no state seems as hard hit by cattle rustling as Missouri.

“They’ve just been plagued,” said Larry Gray, head of law enforcement for the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association.

Mr. Gray, who said that cattle theft was often tied to drug activity, added that Missouri farmers might be more vulnerable to rustlers because many farmers there were “absentee producers” with smaller operations.

“Thieves like to prey on the smaller producers,” he said, because “it’s a lot easier for the thieves to get and load the cattle.”

Also, unlike many larger cattle-producing Western states, Missouri does not have a “brand law,” meaning that cattle producers are not required to register brands with the state.

Not having to register saves many of the state’s 65,000 ranchers from paying fees, but it also means that cattle often carry no identifying marks. Auction markets and stockyards are not required to verify ownership of unbranded cattle, and that, the authorities say, allows thieves to unload stolen livestock quickly.

“You could drive up to any sale barn, drop off your load of cattle, and if they pass the agricultural inspection and are sold, you’d get a check in the mail,” Sgt. Jason Clark, a Missouri Highway Patrol spokesman, said.

Since 2004, after a surge in cattle thefts following a spike in beef prices, many of the roughly 130 auction markets in Missouri have begun asking for identification and proof of ownership from anyone trying to sell unbranded cattle. But the program is voluntary, and the Missouri Cattlemen’s Association estimates that thieves have stolen more than $1.1 million in cattle and equipment in the past four years."

Voluntary? Well, we can't be having folks determine their own affairs. I'm surprised Sheriff Obama hasn't devised a multi-billion dollar federal program to deal with problem, already.

Drug Testing for Employment Common; Why Not for Welfare?

States Consider Drug Tests for Welfare Recipients.

"Lawmakers in at least eight states want recipients of food stamps, unemployment benefits or welfare to submit to random drug testing.

The effort comes as more Americans turn to these safety nets to ride out the recession. Poverty and civil liberties advocates fear the strategy could backfire, discouraging some people from seeking financial aid and making already desperate situations worse.

Those in favor of the drug tests say they are motivated out of a concern for their constituents' health and ability to put themselves on more solid financial footing once the economy rebounds. But proponents concede they also want to send a message: you don't get something for nothing.

"Nobody's being forced into these assistance programs," said Craig Blair, a Republican in the West Viginia Legislature who has created a Web site — notwithmytaxdollars.com — that bears a bobble-headed likeness of himself advocating this position. "If so many jobs require random drug tests these days, why not these benefits?"

Why not, indeed? We all know that beggars shouldn't be choosers as to the conditions of their handouts - unless those welfare recipients have pandering ACLU entitlement lawyers seeking to obligate themselves further into the public coffers on their behalf.

Mob Rule & Economic Terrorism at the G20 Summit

"Yes, we can" seems to be a popular phrase with some of these gangs.

The summit is schedule for April 2nd in London, and the violent adolescent anarchists and slacker entitlement gangs are all set to raise h3ll in the street.

"(Reuters) - Police are gearing up to deal with protests in London, as leaders of the world's largest economies gather for a G20 summit in the British capital on April 2."
"Join thousands of disgruntled, angry, pissed off people on the streets of the financial district," said a statement posted on the "Wombles" anarchist website.

* One anarchist Web site has warned of unspecified action at the summit itself.
"A day of f*#king up the summit and other adventures. Be warned. Be aware. Be ready!," it says.

Hey, kids! Dope it up on the street corner at night & sleep in your tax payer funded gub'mint school during the day and you, too, won't be qualified for anything, but this, as well!

Follow this link to MM's Place where she's compiled an interesting collection of facts n figures about these envious economic terrorists who's solution is anarchy & violence.
"The anarchists are reportedly using Google Streetview and Twitter to organize riots, hang businessmen in effigy at the behest of a university professor known as “Mr. Mayhem,” call for guillotining bank execs, and — get this — target London firms that fail to turn off their lights to commemorate that moronic “Earth Hour” event I wrote about earlier this week. If shops don’t worship at the altar of environmentalism, they will be broken into:"

Good thing these violent adolescent anarchists and slacker entitlement gangs aren't after minorities or other special interest groups, or the media might get upset.

Underdog Mizzou Tigers Beat Memphis Tigers 102-91

That ended Memphis' 27-game winning streak.

Update: I'm sorry. I just couldn't stomach the per usual, shrug review of Mizzou, since they can't rave about KU, from the Kansas City (red) Star, any longer.

From FOX Sports: That ended Memphis' 27 game winning streak.

Mizzou now advances to the Elite Eight to face top seed UConn at 3:40 p.m. Saturday.

"Missouri hangs on..." There wasn't any 'hanging on' about it, putz. Mizzou came out swinging and had Memphis on their heels with 7,8,9...20! point leads all game!

And how about Marcus Denmon's spectacular 3-point half court+ shot at the halftime buzzer. Only net.

Good luck against UConn 'cause you're definitely going to need a lot!

Pot Heads Dominate Obama's Online 'Townhall' Forum

From an apparently jonesin' Politico:

“There was one question that was voted on that ranked fairly high: that was whether legalizing marijuana would improve the economy and job creation,” Obama said, with a chuckle. “I don’t know what this says about the online audience.”

Uh, it means they're a bunch of self absorb moronic dopers?

Pres. Obama was more circumspect:
“This was a fairly popular question — we want to make sure it was answered. The answer is no. I don’t think that is a good strategy to grow our economy,” he said to laughter and applause from the live East Room audience of union members, teachers, business leaders and others.

Most of the drug questions posted on the site, while rarely asked at the White House, were far from bizarre. Last week, Attorney General Eric Holder announced that the federal government would defer to state governments whether to allow the use of marijuana for medical purposes. And just Wednesday, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, traveling in Mexico, questioned U.S. drug policies and said America’s huge appetite for narcotics was fueling the staggering violence south of the border. (Lord knows these gangsters ain't responsible, DIPWAD!)

While Obama’s answer was unequivocal, it was also dismissive and didn’t explain why legalization was unwise.

It seems part of the popularity of marijuana questions was fueled by NORML, the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, which urged people to vote for questions supporting the legalization of cannabis in a posting on its Web site.

Spicoli would be proud: NORK nuclear threats; radical Islamic destabilization of a nuclear Pakistan; Russian expansionism into the Western hemisphere; severe economic turbulence; massive, corrupt Nat'l debt; gargantuan growth of the federal govt; bloody Mexican border war...

But, hey! Let's deal with the important issues first: let folks smoke up a honkin' hand rolled fattie in peace and it'll all be good.

Maybe that explains why this guy got elected. I'm just sayin'...

Meghan McCain's Fave Pundit Explains Why Gordon Gekko is a Democrat

Surprised? Me, too. Gekko's a fictitious movie villain, so who really knows. But, the real life fat cat villains, more often than not, turn out to be heavy hitter contributers to democratic causes & candidates.

Take recent events surrounding Bernie Modaff, perpetrator of the biggest investor fraud in history - a $50-billion Ponzi scheme. He's been convicted, but since 1991, Madoff and Company Spent Nearly $1 Million on Washington Influence with 88% going to democrat candidates.

So why do people assume 'republican' when they think of congressional influence and corruption?

Back in 1989, 5 U.S. senators were accused of corruption in the Keating 5 scandal. John McCain(R) was one of those involved (and exonerated), but few remember that the other 4 senators were all democrats! John Glenn(D) was the only democrat cleared of wrongdoing.

The 2008 presidential election was the most expensive in history at nearly 1 billion dollars. Pres. Obama(D) raised 3/4 of that total.

Obama had help from some big contributers. George Soros was not only a big contributer & supporter of Barak Obama, he's the big money behind the radical, open borders 'Open Society Institute' & the liberal activist organization, 'Center for American Progress', plus the vile leftist propaganda outlet, Media Matters. During this worst economic downturn in 75 years, George Soros, one of the richest men in the world, is 'having a very good crisis' - he earned nearly one billion dollars in 2008.

How about yourself? Did you make 6 figures for 14 months of work? Pres. Obama's White House Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel(D), did just that in 2000-2002 during his 14 month stay on the board of mortgage giant Freddie Mac, who's portfolio of bad loans & corrupt accounting helped trigger the current housing crisis.

So why do people usually think 'republican' when buying the White House and influence?

Maybe it is safe to assume that Gordon Gekko is a Democrat. Take it away, Ann Coulter!

Data Shows No Man-Made Global Warming

"The data was presented at a conference of scientists who gathered the other week in NY to show why global climate is not driven by CO2 - man made or otherwise (see here for documents - H/T Powerline). First is a chart showing that not only were there warmer periods than the current global climate levels since the last major ice age, the majority of that time since the ice age (12,000 years) was warmer than today:"

This will be most disturbing to the Church of Global Warming Faithful since they show little interest in facts, figures or context. Their chief priest, Al Gore, will probably raise the loudest indignation because he gains no money from real science.

U.S. Obama Seeks Expanded Power to Seize Firms

I ferget... Is This the Socialism Part or the Fascism Part?

"Goal Is to Limit Risk to Broader Economy"

Ah, yes. That 'equality of outcome thang' the leftists love so much. Ain't that right, Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae?

"The Obama administration is considering asking Congress to give the Treasury secretary unprecedented powers to initiate the seizure of non-bank financial companies, such as large insurers, investment firms and hedge funds, whose collapse would damage the broader economy, according to an administration document.

The government at present has the authority to seize only banks.

Giving the Treasury secretary authority over a broader range of companies would mark a significant shift from the existing model of financial regulation, which relies on independent agencies that are shielded from the political process. The Treasury secretary, a member of the president's Cabinet, would exercise the new powers in consultation with the White House, the Federal Reserve and other regulators, according to the document."

Because Mr. Geithner has helped to manage things so well up to this point. But, there's a huge difference between private companies which people chose to risk their money for gain, and bedrock banks for basic monetary service.

Yet, we can't say we didn't see this coming, starting last October when former Sect'y of the Treasury Henry Paulson was granted unprecedented powers to oversee the original $700 billion bailout (remember when that seemed like a lot of money?
"The government also would assume the authority to seize such firms if they totter toward failure.

Besides seizing a company outright, the document states, the Treasury Secretary could use a range of tools to prevent its collapse, such as guaranteeing losses, buying assets or taking a partial ownership stake. Such authority also would allow the government to break contracts, such as the agreements to pay $165 million in bonuses to employees of AIG's most troubled unit."

My guess is that last sentence is the fascism part.

Or is that the lipstick on a pig part?

Either way, Chavez and Mugabe, despite their personal contempt for our Dear Leader, must be so proud of his political aspirations.

When Will Pres. Obama(D) Return His $101,332 AIG Campaign Contribution?

The feeding frenzy this A.M. is word that many top AIG execs have returned $30 million of the $165 million paid out in bonuses (paychecks, really, but who's to argue when Congressional malfeasance is in the water & mob rule in the air?).

When Will Pres. Obama(D) Return His $101,332 AIG Campaign Contribution?

Pres. Obama received that contribution during the 2008 campaign cycle - precisely the time AIG was gurgling down the financial crapper and subsequently received $150 billion gub'mint handout via RINO GW Bush.

Senator Chris Dodd(D) - Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, who was instrumental in crafting the legislation which allowed the bonuses to be highballed to those AIG execs, has already returned his $103,900 in 2008 AIG campaign contributions.

Thank you, Senator. Leadership by example. You don't think his decision was influenced by the fact that his wife worked for a subsidiary of AIG? In the Bahamas. (I wonder why that company was based in the Bahamas, Senator?)

But, I digress. How about you Pres. Obama? A little leadership by example? When will you return your $101,332 AIG campaign contribution?

I don't think 'she' likes us very much.

"Nonetheless, the “advice” in both scenarios reflects actual positions taken by environmentalists. The misanthropy needed to call a human body “waste” is the same misanthropy behind the willingness to sacrifice human well-being for the sake of the planet.

Ultimately, what distinguishes modern environmentalism from the Christian idea of stewardship isn’t the degree of concern for the environment. It’s the deity in whose name we’re acting."

You're welcome.

It's Electric...

MIT's 90 MPH Solar car to Race in the 2009 World Solar Challenge.

The rules of this contest are simple: Design and build a car capable of crossing the Australian continent on the power of sunlight!

The MIT team named the machine 'Eleanor', the Solar Race Car. I don't know why, either.

The 2009 World Solar Challenge, taking place in Australia from October 25th to 31st, will see some of the most efficient solar vehicles in the world compete in a seven day, 2,000 miles race from Darwin to Adelaide. One of the competitors will be Eleanor, the new electric race car by MIT's Solar Vehicle Team.

Battlefield Laser Approaches Operational Capability

Nope. You won't be able to blast Boba Fett anytime soon, but Pentagon-researchers at Northrop Grumman are breaking barriers.

"The battlefield-strength breakthrough is just one part in a larger military push to finally make laser weapons a reality, after decades of unfulfilled promises. The Army recently gave Boeing a $36 million contract to build a laser-equipped truck. Raytheon is set to start test-firing a mortar-zapper of its own. Darpa is funding a 150 kilowatt laser project that is meant to be fitted onto "tactical aircraft."

Fannie & Freddie Execs Receive Huge 6 Figure Bonuses for Faliure

"Fannie Mae, which suffered $59 billion in losses last year, has requested $15 billion in taxpayer assistance, and has said it expects to need plenty more."

Obviously, for the greedy power brokers in Congress, Some Bonuses Less Outrageous Than Others.

Not that the democrats care. Guess who's been covering for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac as far back as 2004? Guess who's raked in the biggest campaign contributions from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac as far back as 2004?

Hint: It wasn't the Republicans. (video)

Congress Critters Attempt 'Legal Lynching' of AIG's Liddy; Fail Miserably

Rep. Barney Frank(D) heads up this congressional parade of buffoons.

"What was supposed to be a legal lynching of AIG boss Edward Liddy over the firm's bonus plan turned into a humiliating defeat for the lynch mob. Liddy came off as a smart straight shooter, a man who gave up retirement for $1 a year to rescue AIG so it wouldn't bring down the financial system.

He also proved himself a cut above those who aimed to make cheap headlines at his expense. I'd pay to see him question Congress on its role in the economic mess.

Most important, he revealed the dirty little secret that much of Washington knew and approved of AIG's promises to pay retention bonuses to members of its financial products unit. That revelation came early in Liddy's testimony and punctured the hot air balloon.

Liddy's matter-of-fact claim directly implicates the Federal Reserve, which he called the "gatekeeper" for the 80% of AIG owned by the taxpayers. He also said Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner knew of the bonus plan nearly two weeks before it became public.

Over to you, President Obama."

Most ethical congress evah!

Sen. Dodd(D) to Give Back AIG Campaign Contributions

$103,900 in 2008 campaign contributions, to be exact.

But only after he was relentlessly hounded into fessing up that it was he, Chris Dodd, democrat - Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, who was instrumental in crafting the legislation which allowed the bonuses to be highballed to those AIG execs. (video)

"The executives in the eye of the storm work for a Wilton-based division of AIG Inc. called AIG Financial Products, which is actually being closed.

AIG Financial Products played a pivotal role in the parent company's problems that prompted it to seek and receive more than $170 billion in government bailout money.

Connecticut state lawmakers also are looking at ways to take away the bonus money, which is being awarded to the executives as an incentive to keep them on the job while the company sells off the financial products portfolios.

While Dodd worked with his colleagues to address the problem, he had to answer questions about more than $103,000 in donations he received from AIG Financial Products workers during the 2008 campaign.

This is not the first time Dodd has found himself in the position of pillorying a corporate villain in one breath and in the next defending himself from claims he's too cozy with the same miscreant.

It was revealed last year that Dodd, who raged against abuses by the mortgage industry, had received a preferential loan for his home.

Since he is Senate finance chairman, eyebrows have continued to be raised about the contributions he's received from Wall Street firms."

Gee, ya think?! How much more so would that be true for another senator who now just happens to be the POTUS?

Obama Received a $101,332 Bonus from AIG.

Inhofe Slams Obama’s Cap-and-Trade ‘Scheme’

The Senator is not the only one to pull back the wizard's thin veil on this tax it into oblivion 'scheme'. The WSJ, CNBC, The Detroit Press, Warren Buffet, and The 'i(heart)obama monogrammed knee pads NY Times all say that cap n trade is an economy killer.

Cap and Trade is a gub'mint manufactured 'solution' to a demagogued frenzy of pseudo-science known as global warming, or climate change. This warming, or change, has been thoroughly discredited by hundreds of reputable scientist, but the fanatical faithful tenaciously cling to this deluded chicken little dogma like a mesmerized cult.

Hence, the solution is gub'mint (isn't it always?). The intent, of course, is to funnel more private dollars from industry to the gub'mint in the form of that snake oil commodity of a deluded conscience, carbon credits.

In short, carbon credits are an imaginary commodity created by deducting what you hope happens from what you guess would have happened.

Think of it as a de facto tax on industry that -wait for it - trickles down in the form of higher prices to wholesalers, retailers & consumers which simply adds to killing our economy.

But, based on our Dear Leader's heretofore, superior intellect razzle dazzle, I think that's his objective. I'm just sayin'...

A: Obama seeks greater rein on financial institutions

What is "what does a sprawling gub'mint bureaucrat demand when his own incompetence & complicity is exposed?"

Ding. Ding! DING!! We have a winnah!

Obama Received a $101,332 Bonus from AIG

"Senator Barack Obama received a $101,332 bonus from American International Group in the form of political contributions according to Opensecrets.org. The two biggest Congressional recipients of bonuses from the A.I.G. are - Senators Chris Dodd and Senator Barack Obama."

Also near the top were McCain, John; Clinton, Hillary; Baucus, Max; Romney, Mitt; Biden, Joseph R Jr.

It all happened in 2008 - precisely the time AIG was gurgled down the financial crapper and subsequently received $150 billion gub'mint handout via RINO GW Bush.

The AIG bonuses amount to less than a fraction of one percent of that handout, yet the Dems on the Hill and the White House demand AIG exec blood, but not one word is said about all the political palms which were greased by AIG. Do think our Dear Leader will return his portion - you know, to lede by example?

Nah. Me neither!

Rare Fossil Octopuses Found

No relation to modern day congress critters.

Just kidding.

It's an extremely rare & fascinating find - three new fossilized octopus species.

"What most surprised (Dirk) Fuchs (of the Freie University Berlin) and his colleagues Giacomo Bracchi and Robert Weis was how similar the specimens are to modern octopus. "These things are 95 million years old, yet one of the fossils is almost indistinguishable from living species," Fuchs said."

Hmm. The coelacanth had a similar tale to tell: 95 million years with little or no evolutionary change. That just nailed the validity of the theory for me. How about you?

CC's Jon Stewart Rips Obama's Plan to Gut VA Rehab

"WHAT THE F*&#% WERE YOU GUYS THINKING?"

"Stewart knows of what he speaks. The comedian has logged a significant number of hours visiting wounded vets and listening to their war experiences. His work in that arena has garnered him recognition from the USO, who gave him a Merit Award for his work almost a year ago."

Stewart's normally a pandering leftist jester, but on this I say BRAVO! He's my hero.

And who knew he perused kanSas city dot com?

Update: Obama says 'uh, never mind.'

Is Barack Obama Incompetent?

And more broadly, do the people he picked for his administration even know what they're doing?

"The tag of incompetence is powerful precisely because it is a nondenominational rebuke, even when it yields a partisan result. It became the strongest argument against the GOP hammerlock on Washington and, over two elections, gave Democrats their turn at total control.

But already feelings of doubt are rising again. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid were never held in high regard, so doubts about their motives and abilities are not surprising.

What matters more is the growing concern about Obama and his team. The longest campaign in presidential history is being followed by a very short honeymoon.

Polls show that most people like Obama, but they increasingly don't like his policies. The vast spending hikes and plans for more are provoking the most concern, with 82% telling a Gallup survey they are worried about the deficit and 69% worried about the rapid growth of government under Obama. Most expect their own taxes will go up as a result, despite the President's promises to the contrary.

None other than Warren Buffet, an Obama supporter, has called the administration's message on the economy "muddled." Even China says it is worried about its investments in American Treasury bonds. Ouch."

More and more storm clouds seem to gather in the unicorn forest as an apparently overwhelmed White House continues to have staffing problems for key posts, issues befuddled & contradictory policy statements, dismantles years of intelligence and security measures implemented after 9-11, and even faux pas with details on foreign dignitary etiquette.

It's getting scary, and a dangerous world can smell weakness & incertitude.

But, wait. There's more! LI doesn't sugar coat it, and simply says The Wheels Are Falling Off The Obama Administration

National Debt Hits Record $11 Trillion

"To be exact, the Debt now stands at $11,033,157,578,669.78. Divide it by the U.S. population and it comes up to over $36,000 in debt for every man, woman and child among us.

And the government is running up mountains of debt with increasing speed. It took just over 5 ½ months for Uncle Sam to go another trillion dollars deeper in debt since hitting $10-trillion last September 30th. It’s the fastest jump in U.S. history."

Obama's trillions dwarf Bush's 'dangerous' spending, and there's nary a peep, but almost gleeful participation from Congressional democrats. Why is that?

Obama Quietly Diverts Money from Armed Pilots Program

"After the September 11 attacks, commercial airline pilots were allowed to carry guns if they completed a federal-safety program. No longer would unarmed pilots be defenseless as remorseless hijackers seized control of aircraft and rammed them into buildings."

But our Dear Leader knows what's best - especially when it concerns firearms.
"The Obama administration this past week diverted some $2 million from the pilot training program to hire more supervisory staff, who will engage in field inspections of pilots."

Supervisory staff. I feel safer already.
"Since Mr. Obama's election, pilots have told us that the approval process for letting pilots carry guns on planes slowed significantly. Last week the problem went from bad to worse. Federal Flight Deck Officers - the pilots who have been approved to carry guns - indicate that the approval process has stalled out."

Apparently, it's OK to diss certain unions.
"According to the Air Line Pilots Association, the government – since April 2003 -- has trained thousands of volunteer airline pilots as federal flight deck officers to protect passenger and cargo aircraft flying throughout the United States.

“The FFDO program has evolved from a small program that armed airline pilots to protect the flight deck into a substantial, cost-effective security institution,” ALPA says on its Web site.

The pilots’ union repeatedly has urged Congress to adequately fund the program, and its priorities for 2009 include bolstering the program."

That's understandable. But $2 million to fund the last line of defense against murderous airplane hijackers would be hard to come by when Congress just funded a bacon wrapped pork barrel omnibus bill to hand out $473,000 National Council of LaRaza; $5.8 Million for the “Ted Kennedy Institute for the Senate(!); $2 million for "the promotion of astronomy in Hawaii"; $4.4 million for “Center for Grape Genetics” & “Center for Advanced Viticulture and Tree Crop Research”; and my personal fave - $657,000 for “Brown Tree Snake Management in Guam”.

Why do I have the horrible idea that our Dear Leader is a pointy head academic totally out of touch with a hazardous real world?

Latest Obama Directive Restricts Sale of Used Ammo Brass from DoD to Reloaders

"Now it has come clear...now we know what they intend to do.

It is an end-run around Congress. They don't need to try to ban guns--they don't need to fight a massive battle to attempt gun registration, or limit "assault" weapon sales.

Nope. All they have to do is limit the amount of ammunition available to the civilian market, and when bullets dry up, guns will be useless.

Think we jest?"

Click the above link for a good chuckle, then come back here for something a little more serious.

'Social Justice' is propagated by pernicious & pervasive zealots through expensive conferences targeted at public school teachers. These conferences are sponsored by organizations with elite sounding titles like The National Association of Scholars, Rethinking Schools, & The National Association for Multicultural Education (NAME). The end game is to influence, not what gets taught in the classroom, but how it gets taught. Paid for with your tax dollars.

BTW: did you know that the Nat'l Edu. Assoc. (NEA) is one of the most powerful lobbies in D.C.? Why do you think that is? Besides the fact that hundreds of millions of tax dollars come their way every school year...

Thousands of girls have suffered genital mutilation in Britain.

"Despite having been outlawed in 1985, female circumcision is still practised in British African communities, in some cases on girls as young as 5. Not a single prosecution? Code pinko, NOW, and other leftist, speak truth to power gangs have yet to be vocal about this vicious brutality against little girls - or the impotence of British authorities.

It's Electric...

"Everybody talks about the weather, but nobody does anything about it."

A super-charged lithium ion battery?

If you own a cell phone, Ipod, or laptop computer, you own a lithium ion battery. They're long lasting - and take a long time to recharge. In small electronic items that's not a huge problem, but in the blossoming electric automobile technology, it's an interminably long one. Scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) appear to have found a solution:

"In an attempt to pick up the pace, the M.I.T. researchers coated the lithium iron phosphate material with an ion conductor, which in this case was a layer of glasslike lithium phosphate. Sure enough, the charge-carrying ions traveled much faster from their storage medium; a prototype battery the scientists built completely charged in about 10 to 20 seconds.

The results have impressed some battery experts. "I think this work is a really exciting breakthrough with clear commercial applications," says Yi Cui, an assistant professor of materials science and engineering at Stanford University.

Two companies have already licensed the technology, according to Kang. Researchers are not sure how much these batteries will cost when they hit the market, but Kang says they should be reasonably priced, given that it should be relatively cheap to produce them."

There's still big hurdles to over come in electric auto tech. For example: Current shelf life is only about 3 years, whether you use them or not; Lithium ion batteries are degraded by their own generated heat, and in extremely, very rare cases have been known to burst into flames; Plus Li-ion batteries are drastically damaged by a deep recharge cycle, and ruined when completely discharged (you know how frustrated you get when you're s.o. drives on fumes...?)

Oh. Don't forget to tell Ol' no clean burning coal Joe that this electricity still has to come from someplace.

Barney Frank Wants Long Shadow Over Northern Trust

"When small men cast long shadows, the sun is going down."- Venita Cravens

The problem with taking the gub'mint's money is it comes with strings. And other marble mouth encumbrances.

It's one thing to dump billions of dollars down an influential rat hole and have insiders profit from the before hand knowledge of impact, then rightly call foul. Yet, quite another to force profitable banks to take TARP money, then brow beat 'em with petty potentate power trips.

Update: that cr@p had to go. Dang cold pills.

Morally Unserious in the Extreme

Last week, Obama rescinded the ban to use federal tax dollars on the bereft of results, embryonic stem cell research with a declaration to 'shield to science from politics'.

Charles Krauthammer, once again, expertly dismantles Obama's amoral, dissonant eloquence and pronounces it bankrupt:

"Obama's address was morally unserious in the extreme. It was populated, as his didactic discourses always are, with a forest of straw men. Such as his admonition that we must resist the "false choice between sound science and moral values." Yet, exactly 2 minutes and 12 seconds later he went on to declare that he would never open the door to the "use of cloning for human reproduction."

Does he not think that a cloned human would be of extraordinary scientific interest? And yet he banned it.

Is he so obtuse not to see that he had just made a choice of ethics over science? Yet, unlike President Bush, who painstakingly explained the balance of ethical and scientific goods he was trying to achieve, Obama did not even pretend to make the case why some practices are morally permissible and others not.

This is not just intellectual laziness. It is the moral arrogance of a man who continuously dismisses his critics as ideological while he is guided exclusively by pragmatism (in economics, social policy, foreign policy) and science in medical ethics."

That's gonna leave a mark.

The truly alarming part of Krauthammer's expert dismantling is the realization that Obama's amoral dissonance does not exist in a vacuum. It's an almost imperative need from many in the stratosphere of academia that reaches far into our children's educational system - and the ballot box.

Strict German gun laws fail to prevent school shooting

Teenager gained access to gun despite living in country with some of the world's toughest firearm controls.

"The country already has some of the strictest gun laws in the world. Handguns are only on sale to those aged 18 or over, with heavier weapons restricted to those over 21. No weapon can be purchased legally without a firearms ownership licence, which is only available after personal checks.

None of this appears to have prevented a 17-year-old former pupil of Albertville school in Winnenden from going on the rampage. According to Spiegel online, the student's family kept some 18 different weapons at home. Germany's ZDF TV, quoting police sources, confirmed one of the father's weapons was missing."

Those weapons were all legal & licensed. Despite this horrible tragedy of ten dead students, three teachers, and the gun man's suicide, the obvious futility of draconian anti-gun laws will be lost on the leftist disarmament crowd.

From Der Spiegel:
"The German Police Federation, Konrad Freiberg, proposed fitting schools with doors that could only be opened with personalized swipe cards.

But the president of the German Federation of Teachers, Josef Kraus, said such systems would only give a false sense of security. "If someone wants to go on a rampage, he can also target a schoolbus and there's nothing you can do about it," he said.

Wolfgang Bosbach, deputy parliamentary leader of Merkel's conservatives, said was too soon to draw conclusions from the shooting.

"We must examine the causes and the background of this crime," Bosbach said. He warned against turning the country's schools into "maximum security facilities."

Our prayers & well wishes go out to the families of the victims.

Obama: No Merci Beaucoup

"You know, it’s embarrassing when Europeans come over here, they all speak English, they speak French, they speak German. And then we go over to Europe and all we can say is merci beaucoup. Right?" - Mr. Obama, July 9, 2008

State Dept: No Special Relationship Between U.S. & U.K.
"The real views of many in Obama administration were laid bare by a State Department official involved in planning the Brown visit, who reacted with fury when questioned by The Sunday Telegraph about why the event was so low-key.

The official dismissed any notion of the special relationship, saying: "There's nothing special about Britain. You're just the same as the other 190 countries in the world. You shouldn't expect special treatment." The apparent lack of attention to detail by the Obama administration is indicative of what many believe to be Mr Obama's determination to do too much too quickly."

No, what's apparent are piles n piles of unicorn... excuses.

One would think that several hundred years of history, common values, economic partnerships, two world wars, a cold war, dismantling the Soviet Union, and fighting violent islamists across the globe might just sorta maybe kinda give the U.K. a little higher place on our dance card than say, oh, Eritrea or Bolivia or Sri Lanka.

The U.S. & the U.K. are separated by a common language, but it's obvious that the Obama administration's language embarrassment is compounded by not speaking diplomacy, either.

Maybe these boys can help.
