A Sad State of Affairs
Arizona passes bill banning ethnic studies programs in state schools.
"The bill, which passed 32-26 in the state House, had been approved by the Senate a day earlier. It now goes to Gov. Jan Brewer for her signature. It's not sad that Arizona legislature passed such a bill, but it's sad that it was necessary to pass such a bill to ban such outright bigotry and sedition - from a public school system. Your tax dollars at work.
The new bill would make it illegal for a school district to teach any courses that promote the overthrow of the U.S. government, promote resentment of a particular race or class of people, are designed primarily for students of a particular ethnic group or "advocate ethnic solidarity instead of the treatment of pupils as individuals."
"State Superintendent for Public Instruction Tom Horne called passage in the state House a victory for the principle that education should unite, not divide students of differing backgrounds."Augustine Romero, director of Tuscon Unified School District's ethnic-studies department will be very upset at this new law. You see, he directs a "$2.6 million "ethnic studies" program heavy on 'race-based resentment' of white people, and romantic portrayals of mass murdering sociopath che guevara, and brutal dictator fidel castro.
Up until today, Mr. Romero was still hard at it.
And they say the TEA partiers are bigots and racists...

The Kris Kobach Radio Show
On Talk Radio 710 KCMO, every Sunday evening, 6 - 8 PM. Click here to listen online.
Mr. Kobach was instrumental in drafting the new Arizona anti-illegal immigration law, and he knows from whence he speaks: Kobach is a law professor at the University of Missouri at Kansas City, was Attorney General John Ashcroft’s chief adviser on immigration law and border security from 2001 to 2003.
But, wait. There's more!
Michelle Malkin alerted me (and the 12 gazillion other people who read her blog) that The Gray Lady got a clue. Kris Kobach has a NY Times op/ed piece published today about this new law, entitled Why Arizona Drew a Line:
"Predictably, groups that favor relaxed enforcement of immigration laws, including the American Civil Liberties Union and the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund, insist the law is unconstitutional. Less predictably, President Obama declared it “misguided” and said the Justice Department would take a look.Good sound arguments - unlike the stuff oozing out of the White House. Or the mouths of La Racist agitators.
Presumably, the government lawyers who do so will actually read the law, something its critics don’t seem to have done. The arguments we’ve heard against it either misrepresent its text or are otherwise inaccurate. As someone who helped draft the statute, I will rebut the major criticisms individually:"
Seven States Contemplate Anti-Illegal Immigrant Legislation
Only seven??
During the Bush administration, the flaccid chief of Homeland Security, Michael Chertoff, couldn't bring himself to say "illegal immigrant," and Bush couldn't bring himself to defend our southern border. The pundits of 2008 proclaimed that my vote for McCain would get us 4 more years of Bush, and they were right. Obama's not defending our southern border, either.
U.S. citizens and their state governments are fed up (see Border Disorder).
Here's a list of who is doing what:
| STATE | BILL | STATUS |
| Utah | Require immigrants to carry proof of status, require law enforcement officers to question anyone they believe is in the country illegally, and target employers who hire or transport undocumented immigrants. | Legislation still has to be drafted, but Rep. Stephen Sandstorm (R) claims he “has the support to do it.” |
| Georgia | Nathan Deal (R), who is running for Governor, wants to propose legislation that mirrors Arizona’s. | Tentatively pending Deal’s election. |
| Colorado | Today, Colorado gubernatorial candidate Scott McInnis (R) said that if he were governor, he would seek to pass something “very similar” to what Arizona enacted. | Tentatively pending McInnis’ election. |
| Maryland | State Delegate Pat McDonough (R) “plans to start sending a survey to every candidate for the General Assembly — along with the candidates for governor — asking them whether they agree with Arizona’s approach.” | McDounough’s survey will start being circulated this week as he hopes to “know who is in favor of the Arizona bill and who is not” by this summer. |
| Ohio | Butler County Sheriff Rick Jones and Ohio Rep. Courtney Combs (R) sent a letter to Gov. Ted Strickland asking him “to employ” his “leadership role” “to assure legislation is passed that will mirror” Arizona’s. | Strickland’s press person says he “hasn’t had an opportunity to review Arizona law” and is concerned it might be unconstitutional. |
| North Carolina | Local anti-immigrant groups claim that lawmakers have told them that “the chances similar legislation will be filed here is over 95%.” | The same groups also concede that such legislation wouldn’t “get far” in their state. |
| Texas | Republican state Rep. Debbie Riddle of Tomball says she plans to push for a law similar to Arizona’s. | Riddle says she will introduce the measure in the January legislative session. |
| Texas | Farmers Branch, a Dallas suburb of 30,000 people, passed an ordinance written by IRLI lawyer Kris Kobach which would prevent landlords from renting houses or apartments to undocumented immigrants. | Last month, a U.S. District judge ruled the ordinance unconstitutional. IRLI is helping Farmers Branch repeal the District judge decision. | Missouri | The state legislature is considering a law, likely written by Kobach, that would make it unlawful for any person to conceal, harbor, transport, or shelter “illegal aliens” and would also make it a crime for undocumented immigrants to transport themselves. | The bill has been referred to the Missouri House International Trade and Immigration Committee. |
| Oklahoma | Restrict the ability of undocumented immigrants to obtain IDs or public assistance, give police authority to check the status of anyone arrested, and make it a felony to knowingly provide shelter, transportation or employment to the undocumented. | After IRLI filed an amicus brief in the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals in support of HB 1804, the court refused to reconsider its decision that prohibits Oklahoma from enforcing two of the main parts of HB 1804. |
| Nebraska | Residents in Fremont Nebraska likely will vote in July on a proposed ordinance to ban the “harboring,” hiring and renting to undocumented immigrants. | Last Friday, the Nebraska Supreme Court upheld a lower court’s ruling that there was no authority to stop an election on the ordinance following a petition filed by Kobach. |
I lifted this info wholesale from our friends at the oddly named "Think Progress," so I salute them for it.
Although, it seems they are rather upset with the newly enacted "draconian" Arizona law, and dread the prospect of copy-cat laws from other states. Our friends at the oddly named "Think Progress" also reference some knee jerk bigotry from the Southern Poverty Law Center which designates those who oppose illegal immigration as being members of a "nativist-extremist hate group." Huh?
Yet, I don't detect any outrage at President Obama or the federal govt. since the new Arizona anti-illegal immigration law simply mirrors already existing federal law.
That's easy to explain. Their vote for Obama got them 4 more years of Bush.
Except, Arizona, et al, ain't cooperating.

Police departments across the country have deemed TEA party gatherings peaceful and quiet, while the Leftists are frequently violent. Still, most of our indolent MSM ignore the facts and play to the narrative, all to the detriment of their ratings.

5 Lessons from the H1N1 Pandemic
"Yet catastrophe never came, and the total U.S. death toll from H1N1 — about 13,000 people over the past year — was considerably smaller than the 36,000 people who are estimated to die each year from the regular, seasonal flu. Millions of doses of H1N1 vaccine expired unused on doctors' shelves, and health officials are now under fire for over-hyping what seemed like a harmless bug. So, was H1N1 much ado about nothing?"Bias alert: This is a TIME Ezine article, so there's no specific mention of HHS sect'y "Kitty-Kat" Sebilius or the Obama administration's culpability in contributing to the hysteria over this non-event, and the political theatrics of "never let a good crisis go to waste," although anonymous, indistinct "health officials are now under fire."
One death is one too many, but the death tolls do tell the tale: the Swine Flu killed a little more than one third of the total claimed every year by the regular, seasonal flu. Yet, WHO and the Obama administration never did seem to care too much about those poor souls.
It seems the death toll from the regular, seasonal flu is a crisis that can be wasted. Just like all the unused Swine Flu vaccines, tax dollars, media hype and public trust in 'experts.'
This TIME magazine Ezine article tries to put a smiley face on this trainwreck of disaster preparedness with declarations that the swine flu was actually more severe than the death tolls indicate, and that all this was a teachable moment for future epidemics, but by the end of the article, all one is left with is a foul odor of CYA, and the unnerving certainty about the people who claim to be the smartest people in the room, often aren't.

Sarah, Inc.
The New York Magazine Online just published a very long human interest story on Sarah Palin. The author, Gabriel Sherman, wrote 6,177 words in 65 paragraphs across 8 pages - along with a few mediocre logo parodies - to offer a back-handed compliment as to how Sarah Palin is a one woman industry energizing the political arena and amassing millions in a personal fortune by doing so.
Mr. Gabriel flirts with the notion that somehow politics is besmirched by it all, but he can't quite bring himself to actually write those words.
The funniest sentences in this biographical labyrinth?
"Nowadays, for both poles of the political spectrum but especially for the right, politics is a business—the entertainment business. The freak show, as Mark Halperin termed it, has been turned into a fully merchandised product."It seems that Mr. Gabriel is unaware of Barack Obama's campaign of political theatre for President back in 2008. The most ostentatious and expensive campaign for president in history. It changed everything.
But I guess private citizen Sarah is more interesting than the possibly illegal, and certainly unethical, Obama money machine.
Liberalism Defined
Look up "cognitive-dissonance" and you'll find this picture. Although Moe lane says it ain't so.
Sarah Palin went to the land of Nike, Granola bars and medical marijuana last week to fund raise for Oregon's half a dozen or so admitted Republicans. The far, far Lefties at the George Soros funded Huffington Post proudly chimed in about Palin's reception from the locals:
"In the old days, that could have drawn a crowd of angry demonstrators. The unspoken assumption being that these violent anarchists are still there, waiting to pounce for the appropriate target? They sound almost proud.
Students at the university were early protesters against the Vietnam War. In 1970, the ROTC building was bombed. Eugene's anarchist community sent protesters to the World Trade Organization riots in Seattle in 1999. And a cell of the Earth Liberation Front, calling itself The Family, was convicted of a string of arsons during the 1990s.
But all that has mellowed.
"Since 9/11, it seems that most of the anarchists have maintained a low profile," said Paul Neville, associate editor of The Register-Guard newspaper."
I guess Huffy Poo over-looked the loony-toon, hate mongers captured in the photo above, and forgot to update. How convenient. Good thing it wasn't a TEA party rally hoping Pelosi chokes or our indolent media watchdogs might actually write something.
But there's no media bias.

A Toilet Paper Shortage in U.S. like in Cuba?
Liberals are fond of fawning over Papa Fidel and Uncle Raul and the wonderful benevolence they claim to impose upon their desperately poor, captive citizens - despite the brutal realities to the contrary. Like Cuba's 2009 toilet paper shortage.
That was perhaps a teachable moment for the Chi-coms and hording waste paper is an attempt to stave off a similar situation.
"Printer and copier paper retain the nice, long fibers that make the best recycled toilet paper. But a resurgent Chinese economy and domestic waste reduction efforts are cutting the available supply of the good stuff, said Jeff Phillips, executive vice president of operations at Seventh Generation, a major recycled toilet paper manufacturer. This could all adversely affect the supplies of toilet paper and cause the price to soar at your local store. Because cutting down more trees will not be tolerated by our Gaia worshiping betters, in the federal halls of power.
“The cost of office waste paper has skyrocketed (more than doubled) in the last six months primarily as a result of China re-entering the market,” Phillips wrote in an e-mail to Wired.com. “There has [also] been a reduction in availability due to more offices trying to reduce paper consumption and through the use of electronic media."
So there you have it. Obama sits amidst massive debt, profligate spending, threatened tax increases, unemployment. And, now, a looming toilet paper shortage, all thanks to a nefarious conspiracy between the tree hugging frog lickers and our money masters, the Chi-Coms, to rid Americans of one more sit down comfort.

Midterm prospects are typically tough for the party in power. Add a toxic environment like this and lots of incumbent Democrats could be out of work.Apparently, that has Bubba upset.
The survey found that just 22 percent of those questioned say they can trust Washington almost always or most of the time and just 19 percent say they are basically content with it. Nearly half say the government negatively affects their daily lives, a sentiment that's grown over the past dozen years.
This anti-government feeling has driven the tea party movement, reflected in fierce protests this past week."

What Will Life Be Like in the Year 2008?
"People have more time for leisure activities in the year 2008. The average work day is about four hours. But the extra time isn’t totally free. The pace of technological advance is such that a certain amount of a jobholder’s spare time is used in keeping up with the new developments, on the average, about two hours of home study a day.
Most of this study is in the form of programmed TV courses, which can be rented or borrowed from tape libraries. In fact most schooling, from first grade through college, consists of programmed TV courses or lectures via closed circuit. Students visit a campus once or twice a week for personal consultations or for lab work that has to be done on site. Progress of each student is followed by computer, which assigns end term marks on the basis of tests given throughout the term.
Besides school lessons, other educational material is available for TV viewing. You simply press a combination of buttons and the pages flash on your home screen. The world’s information is available to you almost instantaneously."
This blast from the past article is surprising accurate on many accounts, but amazingly naive on other. Interesting none the less.

"Crash the TEA Party" Teacher Suspended from School
For advocating fraud, disturbing the peace, identity theft and usurping school property for personal use. Remember, this clown was teaching your children in a gub'mint school, paid for with your tax dollars.
"An Oregon teacher who announced his intention to "dismantle and demolish the Tea Party" has been placed on administrative leave until his school district finishes its investigation into whether his political activity crossed the line.
The state's Teacher Standards & Practices Commission is also conducting an investigation into Jason Levin, a media teacher at Conestoga Middle School in Beaverton."
Apparently, Mr. Levin maintained a web site to advance his cause and recruit other like-minded tools. On that web site Mr. Levin announced that "he would seek to embarrass Tea Partiers by attending their rallies dressed as Adolf Hitler, carrying signs bearing racist, sexist and anti-gay epithets and acting as offensively as possible -- anything short of throwing punches."
He also advocated mining personal info from TEA partiers to commit identity theft.
At issue, of course, is not his right to free speech or participation in the political process, but whether he used school facilities, computers and time paid for by the tax payers to advance his political agenda and plan criminal activities.
Fraud, disturbing the peace, identity theft and usurping school property for personal use in order to discredit and embarrass other citizens seeking to exercise their Constitution right to peaceably assemble & protest.
My guess is he votes democrat.
But, wait. There's more! Verum Serum has uncovered “My Personal Political Manifesto” published by this self-describe "fascist libertarian" and religious bigot. It's confusing mish-mash of political/social ideologies that puts Levin squarely in the "holy crap nutjob" category. Aren't you so glad this clown had a job working around your children?
Sadly, that not the worst of it. Rusty will issue a wish-you-was-never-borned fatwah for his sacrilege!TY DZ

Is the Public School System a Repository for Reprobates?
Society is full of violent degenerates & perverts who prey on the most helpless citizens via theft, assault, and drugs, but there appears to be a preponderance of this scum employed as public school teachers. Can anyone tell me what other single profession can lay claim to such a disproportionately large number of horrid assaults against our children?
We, here at LB1901, have made a small attempt to document a systemic history of disfunction in public schools by the most vile & reprehensible perverts who prey on our children. Yet, where's the outrage?
What is the common denominator which reposits an inordinately high number of reprobates into the public school system? Teachers are supposed to be the more enlightened and informed in our society. That often comes through higher education. But what else is imparted at college?
Is it the climate of sexual permissiveness rampant on campii across the nation which breeds this lust for all things young - that is then carried like an insidious disease into a workplace full of children? Yet, simple 'opportunity' doesn't explain these sexual assaults upon our children by their teachers, as many who do work with children are not prone to these reprehensible acts of abuse against our children.
We'll grant the benefit of the doubt and deem the teacher's union and district administrators across the country blameless in the obvious recruitment of these perverts.
Is it the relativistic philosophy distilled by a liberal arts education that softens the inhibitions and urges fulfillment of any desire, regardless of convention or morals? After all, morality is so medieval. And isn't that why the Spanish Inquisition happened? Not sure. History was dropped in favor of 'self-esteem 101' and 'the politics of multi-culturalism.'
Perhaps it's the completely predictable culture of perpetual adolescence brought about by the irresponsible enablers of the ever-present nanny state. It's shouted through bullhorns and street protests that 'education, abortion, sexual identity, housing, no borders, health care, and belief in UFOs', etc is a "right." Most likely, your public High School has a health clinic where your teen can acquire birth control or even an abortion without your knowledge or consent. And join a UFO club. Or demonstrate fealty to the latest occupants at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. But don't judge them, or you're a bigot/racist/xeno/homophobe, and anti-education.
Is it simply a coincidence that a good majority of public school teachers embrace Left Wing politics and vote democrat?
Teacher gets jail time for sex with student.
"Neil, a 44-year-old Tonganoxie resident, pleaded guilty Feb. 17 for two 2008 incidents that took place with the female student. Prosecutors said one took place in the high school."
High School teacher to stand trial in sex case.
"(The teacher) was arrested on Feb. 16 after a two-week investigation into his alleged relationship with the-then-16-year-old student.
He will be arraigned May 3 on the bail-jumping charges."
Ex-south Texas teacher guilty of drug trafficking.
"McALLEN, Texas (AP) - A former south Texas fifth-grade teacher who coordinated the transportation of tons of marijuana from the border to Houston faces at least 20 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy.
Federal agents arrested 30-year-old David Rey Ramirez at a Rio Grande City elementary school in late January."
In any case, the Catholic Church cannot be blamed for the documented, systemic abuse against our children by public school teachers. Yet, where's the outrage?

Home Schooling Mom Guilty of Sex w/ 14 y.o. Boy
Wrong again.
It was a former gub'mint school teacher who did the nasty with a 14 y.o. boy.
Yet, you can imagine the howls of outrage and condemnation against "isolated" and "deprived" home schoolers if it had been a home schooling mom. That blatant narrative has a very broad brush.
But in the face of documented, systemic abuse by gub'mint teachers against children - crickets chirp.
Let's blame the Catholic church.
Katie, Katie, sycophant lady
CBS's Katie Couric must have a brand new pair of "I (heart) Obama" kneepads she wants to break-in.
I guess it's no surprise that she has to plagiarize other, more accomplished Presidents in order to put some polish on Obama's tarnish.
And ain't it funny that by invoking G.W. Bush, Katie, Katie, sycophant lady [with the brand new "I (heart) Obama" kneepads], made no mention of the 2003 Moscow Treaty, signed by G.W. and Putin, which did, in fact, reduce the U.S. nuclear arsenal by 50%?
That treaty doesn't expire until Dec. 2012. Fort-seven other nations were not required.
But, hey. Obama's got a wish in one hand and shine-ola in the other, so let's have kneepads all around! Mission accomplished.
Perhaps the sycophant lady should have invoked another Einstein quote: "I am convinced that God does not play dice."

More Illegalities at Planned Parenthood
Courtesy Cassy Fiano:
"The lies told by the counselor are flagrant and and reprehensible. A girl goes in wanting to get information and is given nothing but lies. And why? Because the Planned Parenthood counselor isn’t a counselor at all, but a salesperson with goods to sell. And those goods are the murders of unborn children, even if it is at the expense of a frightened, confused young girl looking to find help."
So, the question still (and again) is, when does it become organized crime?
World Classless 4sshole: Julian Assange
Who? He's the cranial diarrhea spew of propaganda and sedition who released the highly manipulated and edited video on Wiki Leak entitled "Collateral Murder." That video was designed to smear and convict our brave military men & women, who risk their lives in combat, so idiots like Assange can wallow in the feces of their 15 minutes of infamy.

Comedy Central's Steve Colbert mercilessly monkey stomps Assange, as this pathetic clown appears oblivious to the new idiot hole he just got ripped on national TV. The Jawa Report has the take down. Bravo, guys.
Update: some are recommending a grain of salt in review. If so, give Colbert a lifetime achievement award asap.

The Heart of Man is Evil, and Desperately Wicked
After many decades and billions in foreign aid, many African nations are still desperately poor, hungry and sick. A newly published study by the medical journal Lancet says the reason is massive corruption in many African nations.
Simply put, the foreign aid is not being used for the purpose it was intended. Their governments have squandered that foreign aid for other nefarious purposes - much of it untraceable.
Lancet?
You mean “the U.S. invasion of Iraq has killed 655,000 civilians” Lancet?
No matter; Corruption as the root cause of nationwide poverty has been substantiated from other sources so many times, since the twilight of European colonialism in the 1960s, that systemic corruption is practically a job qualification in most any African administration.
In this corruption's wake are endless cycles of regional warlords, land mismanagement, failed crops, failed markets, droughts, famines, and horrific pandemics.
Add to that misery the rapid rise of blood thirsty Islamic regimes in many North African countries – regimes willing to slaughter wholesale any population deemed “other” – and Western money is nothing more than a slush fund for weapons, bribes, and drugs.
Africa truly is a "Dark Continent," with many of that continent's governments the cause of the problems - not the solution.

Ala. Teacher Can Now Be Fired for Sex Assault against Child
Where as, before now, the teacher couldn't be fired - according to state law. What other profession exists on this planet where a person could commit such a heinous crime, and receive full pay, and still not be terminated upon conviction??
Let's blame that evil Catholic Church.
But, get this, the teacher could have commited murder, rape, robbery, or arson, and the same tenured protection would've applied! Yes, really.
Until now.
From the Hartselle Enquirer:
"New legislation now means teachers convicted of certain crimes, such as the Danville-Neel Ele-mentary teacher recently sentenced to two years behind bars for enticing a child for sexual purposes, can be terminated from their jobs.
Gov. Bob Riley signed the bill into law last week. It changes Alabama’s tenure law to allow for a teacher convicted of a class A felony, such as murder, first degree rape, arson, robbery or burglary, as well as sex offenses, to be terminated without pay.
The new law went into effect immediately, clearing the way for the Morgan County Board of Education to terminate Defoor. She has been on administrative leave with pay.
Last week, Defoor was sentenced to two years in prison for her felony conviction on charges of enticing a child for sexual purposes, a felony.
Defoor was convicted of having sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl."
The teacher plied the girl with liquor, then took her home to engage in a menage a trois with a man. The girl refused, but the teacher had sex in front of her anyway.
Until this change in the law, a convicted teacher could receive full pay and benefits while in prison.
Your tax dollars (formerly) at work.
Tutor Guilty of Sex with Home Schooled Teen
Nope. Wrong again.
It was a gub'mint school coach who did the nasty with a teen girl.
Idiot. No matter how fine, it ain't worth 5 years time. 5 years!
Meanwhile, googlag's search algorythm returns 1,298 articles for Pope Benedict and the Catholic Church when I searched for "teacher sex abuse."
Fair & Balanced.

More Vitriol from "Hate Radio"
Rosie O'Donnell is no different than skid-marked underwear. Or something.
"Like the referees of a football game, the government must remain completely outside the markets it regulates. Contrary to the absurd sales pitch for ObamaCare, the State cannot enter the health insurance market as a “competitor.” It shouldn’t develop interests that will sour its regulatory powers into corruption.
By its very nature, government has access to power and resources which no private enterprise can equal. It can’t work any other way. We can’t treat the military as a business enterprise, to be shut down if it doesn’t rake in sufficient profits. We must have government resources to address disasters, and most citizens would insist the government be provided with funds to care for the desperately poor and sick. Those who enforce the law must have a measure of power beyond the law: sky marshals carry guns onto airplanes, soldiers have access to heavy weapons and high explosives, government auditors can demand access to information a business would never share with its competition."
The Doctor is IN.

ROOT OF ALL EVIL: Boooshitler's Air Force One flyover of the hurricane ravaged Gulf Coast.
WHAT A SWELL GUY: Obama's Air Force One flyover of flood ravaged New England.
From Arianna Huffington, in 2005:
"Apparently, the president "sat somberly on a couch on the left hand side of the presidential jumbo jet peering out the window" at the catastrophe below, joined at different times by White House staffers including Karl Rove and Scott McClellan. McClellan later quoted the president as saying, "It's devastating. It's got to be doubly devastating on the ground." Ya think?? Hey, here's an idea, Mr. President: maybe you should, y'know, get off the plane and see for yourself?"
How odd that Arianna has made no mention of Obama's "detached, disconnected, and disengaged" flyover of flood ravaged New England this past week. And just like the flood ravaged Mid West in 2008, Spicoli and other hollyweird hypocrites are no where to be found. I'm sure they all have the best of intentions, though.
But some people did notice that Obama didn't "get off the plane and see for yourself."
From CNS News:
"President Barack Obama was scheduled to fly past flood-ravaged Rhode Island aboard Air Force One twice on Thursday as he traveled to Maine to give an afternoon speech lauding his health care bill, then to Boston for an evening fundraiser for the Democratic Party, and then back to Washington, D.C. late Thursday night.
Spokespersons for the Obama administration did not respond to CNSNews.com’s questions about the disaster, including why the president didn’t visit R.I., if he planned to do so in the near future and whether he could survey any of the extensive destruction caused by what the state’s governor is calling the worse flooding in 200 years."
Silly governor. A speech and a fund raiser are very important. After all, Obama is a very busy insurance salesman. Although, apparently, flooding isn't covered under your policy.
So sorry.

He Is Risen! Handel's Hallelujah Chorus
I've long said that Easter is far more important to the Christian than the now indulgent holiday of Christmas. After all, if Christ never rose from the dead, there would be no Gospel to preach.
Handel's Hallelujah Chorus is more fitting for Easter, IMHO.
The Apostles’ Creed: (from approx. 140 A.D. )
“I believe in God the Father Almighty. And in Jesus Christ His only (begotten) Son our Lord, who was born of the Holy Ghost and the Virgin Mary; crucified under Pontius Pilate, and buried; the third day He rose from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of the Father, from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. And in the Holy Ghost; the holy Church; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and life everlasting.”
Happy Easter.

This Blows
Charles Blow, an Op/Ed columnist for the NY Times, tries to make a distinction with out a difference, projects, and ends up confusing himself in An Article of Faith:
"And there it was. Obama’s language focused on what people “know,” or should know. He seems to find comfort in the empirical nature of knowledge. It’s logical. Limbaugh’s language focused on what he thinks people “believe.” Beliefs are a more complicated blend of facts, or lies, and faith. And, they can exist beyond the realm of the rational.
This focus on faith has allowed people like Limbaugh to mislead and manipulate large swaths of the right."
There you have it. People are simple, mind-numbed robots lost in the wilderness. Excepting, of course, the elite minds in the hallowed halls of gub'mint & media that make such determinations.
I wonder if this is what Mr. Blow knows, or what he believes?

"Unexpectedly" Unexpectedly Replaced by "Surprised"
From a gobsmacked CNN: Private sector continues to shed jobs.
"The decline surprised many economists. A consensus of economists surveyed by Briefing.com had forecast a gain of 40,000 jobs in the month."
Seriously? These economists better pull their heads out of their collective bvtts because that's exactly where those '40,000 jobs' need to come out.
Although govt. union jobs are expanding rapidly, but local governments, and the taxpayers who pay for their wages & benefits, don't like it.

From the WSJ:
"At the heart of this fight is an unbalanced equation: The economy is shrinking cities' and states' tax income as their pension and health-care costs have soared. As a result, some governments are diverting money from services to cover benefits, or raising taxes and fees. That doesn't sit well with some taxpayers—many frustrated at seeing their own benefits being cut by private-sector employers.
So governments are seeking cuts in union benefits long considered sacrosanct. This has risks. Public-employee unions are among the biggest political spenders, and their members vote in droves. Also, cutting benefits could make it tougher to keep the best employees."
Voting money from the public coffers into their own pocket. How convenient. And all without running for public office.
And guess what? Most union members work for government.
Boortz has an essay today on HOW GOVERNMENT JOBS ARE KILLING THE ECONOMY.
I'm not sure about that as an absolute, but John Stossel did write a good article about the inherent inefficiency in gub'mint, and how "Practices that would bankrupt private companies are considered normal for the public sector."
